If we pull off an upset, it will be considered by many a fluke. If we lose, it was expected.
I just don't feel like we are going to be given any respect....we are going to have to take it.
Now thats a good post

It's all about the eye test. MSU could win and look overmatched doing it, by getting some very lucky big plays. Then you'll have people saying, "if this or if that" and you won't get a lot of respect.
But if MSU looks competitive all game, and goes punch for punch with Alabama for four quarters, even if they lose by more than 10 points, most will respect that.
Even then, not everyone will. Even if you punch them in the mouth and win, similar to ridiculous LSU fans with Florida, there will be some excuse as to why it wasn't that impressive.

Our two schools never see eye to eye but I have never heard a truer statement that could be applied to either school ... and just for that I would hope y'all beat Bama
nothing better than watching them lose especially when ranked #1

After your quarterback stands there with the ball and has no clue the rush is coming and he gets clobbered into another dimension, if you find all his body parts and gear in a timely manner that would pretty much do it for me.
How many times has he been sacked? Yeah that's what I thought, there is a difference in having patience for the play to develop and being ignorant to the rush. If he was clueless about the rush you would see him throw more picks also.

I'm afraid that our LT Clausell will execute his signature play, the "Whose assignment was he, again?" as Russell's lifeless body becomes a permanent part of the field at BD.

Tobias Smith (offensive lineman of the week despite playing only 3 quarters, with 12 knock down blocks and grading out at 95%) will play the entire game. Claussel won't be on the field much.

It will be really fun around here if State beats Rawl Tyde

Keep the game close and you'll get your props.

Tobias Smith = RG
Blaine Clausell = LT

Yeah I didn't think much about that before posting, my mistake. I generally associate O-Line problems with Tobias being off the field.

Score more than 10 points and finish the game within two scores of Alabama. Both marks would be the best Mississippi State has done against Alabama since 2007.

Obviously we likely won't win barring a an upset, so what does State need to do in their performance against Bama in Ttown to earn respect as a good team?
Not be defeated before they step on the field. If this post is any indication, may have to wait until next year at the earliest.

I can guarantee you our team will be motivated to win the game, especially at 7-0. This State team has determination to win and earn respect, I hope people keep doubting them, it fuels there motivation.

It's simpler than you make it. You have our respect as a solid team that we have to take seriously. If you want the respect of an Alabama or LSU, you need to accomplish something similar, or at least defeat one.

I'll be happy with a one score victory over State this year. Not liking the way they are playing at all. Their D is legit and their QB doesn't hurt them. That's pretty much been Bama's recipe for success for several millennia now.

I can't speak for an entire fanbase or the nation itself, but I already respected State and am duly impressed by Merlins accomplishments this season.
