Serious answer is they have used lots of methods. Greyshirting, medicals, transfers, "discipline", etc.

They sign between 9-12 more players than they have room for (this has happened every year for the past 6 years), evaluate them during spring training, then from the end of spring training until June, they use their evaluations to make determinations and systematically cut the 8-12 players needed to get to 85 by the deadline. The last few cuts are generally announced the week of or the week or so before the deadline.

Kiehl Frazer has had a great season at a lower division. Some kids are "SEC" material and some aren't, right?

Sounds like an illegal system

Not illegal, it's strategic because the NCAA hamstrings programs wit the 85 rule, and other restrictions.

It's not as bad as maybe the loophole that allows guys like Russell Wilson to essentially transfer without having to sit out under the guise that one school has a graduate program that the other does not ... like Dairy Science

This stuff is done at a lot of schools. Saban is just a min/maxer when it comes to scholarship numbers. When he repeatedly pushes the limit and finds ways for more kids to get opportunities to play for him, he (rightfully so) gets scrutiny from fans of other programs who may not have the same concentration of talent on their own teams. The funny thing is that most of these kids (who wouldn't even see the field anyway) usually get great opportunities to either continue their education at Alabama under a medical hardship scholarship, or get meaningful opportunity to play elsewhere. Both of which Saban's staff works hard to facilitate. Rarely does a kid get "dumped-on" or shafted.

Also, the term "processed" is a play on his own terminology for his personal coaching style "The Process".

Well, call the police.

The FBI is already down here sniffing around Tom Ritter's bank accounts. Just have them add it to their list.

If you process and you know it, clap your hands

If you process and you know it, then your roster's gonna show it.

It's not a big deal. It allows a player who will never see the field to pursue other options. Ohio State recruits over guys all the time. Just yesterday, a player decommitted. Kid wanted a Buckeye offer all his life. He got recruited over and got the message. Best of luck to him.

I'm sure there will be multiple transfers as well after the season just as at every other big school. There sure were last year.

More of an old joke, When Saban first got there he built his roster this way, over processing. Doesn't have to do that anymore. Smart really....
