How come Mike Leach has never won a championship as a head coach then?

2008 they had a decent defense. You have to have a great defense to be a championship team.

1999 we finished 10 & 2, with the best Defense in the nation & a decent offense.

Honestly I don't know why everyone assumed State will lose to Bama and OM to AU. Both are the most probable losses but honestly I think state and OM are the better teams and should win.

Everyone has jumped on the Bama dick again because they had 1 good game against A&M who was beaten up and depleted at that point. Bama has looked average in most of their games, as has Auburn except against LSU.

Both teams are good enough to run the board and other than the head to head contest, could possibly win all other games including the National playoff game.

Having said that, every Saturday in the SEC west is a toss up with five teams playing can win any game they play this year (UA, AUB, LSU, OM, MSU).

All considered, these are interesting times. Probably no one outside of UM and MSU in happy that we are both having good years and I promise you we (UM and MSU) would both be happy to see our sister school losing a couple of games between today and December.

That 09 Cotton Bowl was glorious. Completely validated our earlier loss to y'all.

Both have tied for SEC West. MSU is the only one of the two to play in the SECCG (loss to eventual NC Tennessee).

Anyone who says defense wins championships is just covering for their lack of offense. You need a defense good enough to allow your offense to win. It is a combined effort between the two.

Regardless, I wouldn't trade our defense for anyone's. They are yet to let us down and I don't expect them to. Being second in the nation in red zone D tells me they are as good as any defense in the country when it counts, and when it counts is really all I'm concerned with.

That Cotton Bowl was nice; had it on a DVR for a long time with that years Egg Bowl.

Me too.

Two losses could happen for either team.

David Pollack & maybe some others, think that MSU has the best D line in the nation.

Chris Jones, pre-season all everything DE/DT, is 2d string.

I have a feeling UMs D may not be as highly ranked after playing LSU & Auburn; but, if they win, who cares?

But, that remains to be seen...

If LSUs players have the attitude of we should not lose to them, it plays right into the Rebs hands.

Also think our score, one way or t'other can help motivate UM.

That last second FG, for either team, could be an adventure, & too hard to watch.

I figured we'd finish out at 8-4 and it's still entirely likely.

I think Miss State and Ole Miss have the same expectations Auburn or Alabama would have if they were undefeated.
