Our new $500 MILLION dollar stadium is pretty excellent as well.

NOPE NOPE NOPE.
You're wrong, bro. Ain't nothing excellent about that. Nothing at all. Settle down.

what? making fun of the corps? I'd not make fun of him for actual military service. Just the corps.

I don't really care if he did or didn't. That's not what the picture reflected.

Why? I mean, I get that you want to denigrate all things A&M, but I think it's kind of stupid to hate on ROTC, especially at places that take it seriously and have a legacy such as A&M. I know I always had a lot of respect for VMI, the Citadel, Va. Tech, etc.
Just doesn't make sense to me, I guess. But hate on

What horrible thing did my picture in an ROTC uniform reflect, pray tell?
Come on now, this is silly, even for you

Now that A&M is no longer in the same conference with Univ of Texas, they will do better. Its like letting the Red Sox compete in a division without the Yankees.

I didn't know you had to be in the corps to do ROTC. The pretend army routine they do at games is fricking ridiculous though. I went to the A&M-SMU game on my way back from Dallas in 2011 and we were taken in by some hospitable A&M fans (current student/recent grad mix) that were relentlessly making fun of the corps kids as they mad their way through that little grove area just outside the stadium

I agree with this, actually.

Yes, my wife and I met in the Corps at A&M.

This is just you hating? "Pretend army"? What does that even mean? We do march-ins before football games just like other schools with a large ROTC body. And we wear a unique uniform. Big deal--I don't see what makes you so angry about that.
ETA: And believe it or not, the march-in is part of cadet training (and that's not unique to just A&M). Dress and appearance and parliamentary procedure are graded. It ain't just for fun.

Hard for me to think a tradition is awesome when many A&M fans I've met and known think its lame
Congrats doe breh. Your James's didn't get nearly as rustled as I expected or as some of your fellow fans

Some Aggies hate the Corps. They're kinda silly, too, but that's JMHO (and of course I'm biased). It's a petty thing to hate on the military tradition of a school, IMO.

I agree with you there!
Half of the corps serve, gotta respect that half.
For the other half it is a frat that forces them to dress and act decent rather than the usual frat "traditions" of alcoholism and depravity.

A lot of my buddies who didn't make it to active duty had extenuating circumstances that prevented them from serving. I respect them even more because there's no special treatment for the "drill and ceremonies" cadets (who're always upperclassmen)--they still choose to put themselves through the same training and discipline those of us who were under contract had to go through, and they didn't have to.
Either respect all ROTC cadets (regardless of where they go to school), or don't, is the mantra I ascribed to. Trying to pick and choose who to denigrate or not just becomes a purposeless exercise in short order.
But that's just me

I said this two years ago before aTm played a game in the SEC. I believe they will turn into a perrenial contender or close to it with their move to the SEC.
They have separated themselves from Texas and are in the top league where recruits want to play. Most Texas recruits love to stay in Texas to play, but many of them also want to play in the SEC. aTm gives them both. Look at their recruiting now and it is already setting up well for 2015.
aTm is going to be a tough team to deal with for years to come. I believe they will be winning SEC championships. I hate to say it, but that is how I see it stacking up.

"Texas A&M also is the home of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets, which commissions more military officers than any Reserve Officers’ Training Corps unit in the nation.
During World War II, Texas A&M even outpaced the military academies by commissioning 14,123 officers. Of the numerous Aggies who have served in the military, seven have earned the nation’s highest award, the Medal of Honor, and 225 have become flag or general officers. Today, there are more than 1,900 cadets and midshipmen in the Aggie Corps."

Is this another Texas city thread? I thought San Antonio was the second largest city in Texas. LINK
