Skai Moore's neck injury never healed like Gamecocks hoped. He will redshirt this year and play in 2017. Full recovery expected.

Dang, most underrated linebacker in the SEC. Sucks, hope he can get a medical RS.

ETA: Saw Gamecock4life's post. Good deal

Crap. One of the better linebackers in the country, who just so happens to be our best player, out. Well, that 7 win rebound season might take a bit of a shot. ??

Wow tough break for the Gamecocks. If Mason can't beat SC to open the season at home with Muschamp, likely a true Fr QB in McIllwain and now without their best defensive player.....

I mean he probably should have been fired already but he should be fired immediately if that isn't a W.

I hate this for Skai he is a pleasure to watch.

Wasn't he going to go Pro before Muschamp came in?

I guess this is a good thing that he didn't so it can heal and he can come back in 2017 show he is 100% and get drafted higher?

I am sure the NFL would have saw this when he was visiting teams and he would have been dinged badly in his draft position?

Yeah, he announced with Pharoh and later changed his mind.

Think of it this way, you'll have a possible All American type defender on an experienced team now instead of wasting him on a transition group.

About the only silver lining. Hate it for him, but 2017 starting to look decent.

Moore, a 6-foot-2, 218-pound Cooper City, Fla., native, will have surgery Friday in Charlotte and will undergo a Level 1 fusion, Gamecocks head coach Will Muschamp announced Tuesday. The procedure requires Moore to avoid contact for six months but a full recovery is expected, Muschamp said.

“He’ll be fine. This is not a career-threatening situation,” Muschamp said. “This is a very common procedure for herniated disc. It’s unfortunate that it didn’t heal on its own.”

Moore, who considering during pro following last season, will take a redshirt year in 2016 and return to the team in 2017, Muschamp said. He suffered the injury during the 2015 season and aggravated it during weight room work prior to 2016 spring practice, Muschamp said.
