Barnett is the better passer.
Based on what? The fact that he runs the ball less? I can't believe you really want us to throw it over the middle against Ole Miss with a freshman QB. We wouldn't have done that with Barnett either.

No evidence lol? He threw a frozen rope to Stewart in the back of the end zone. Easily 55 yards.

Jalen Hurts SR highlights
The video is the most footage available of him. Within the first 10 seconds you see him throw a ball 65 yards in the air.
At 5:38 he throws a deep out 24 yards down field but with angle it's closer to a 40 yard throw on a rope.
At 7:18 he throws the ball 43 yards to a WR while he's literally jumping back to avoid the rush. It is entirely an arm strength throw.

He's a true freshman and he was playing in his first road game against a fast and opportunistic defense. Why on earth would we want him to throw balls into the middle of the field against a group whose best chance at victory involved turning us over and turning it into points?
I don't understand the point here. They knew what our strengths were with Jalen and they let him use them. There was no point in unnecessary risks like that. Would be stupid.
Yep. He's a freshman. But, he's also not terribly accurate. BTW., being able to read defenses, expect certain things, etc., helps to define one as a good passer.
Hurts has at least twice thrown over the receiver's wrong shoulder. He's under thrown several others. Many of his balls have some fairly significant wobble to them as well. You don't have to be a 5th year senior to throw the ball over the correct shoulder or lead a receiver. He threw the ball 6 feet over a wide open Henches' head. I guess he led him.
If Hurts didn't have great running ability, there would be some people on this board who would be saying some pretty unkind things about him.
Yes. He's a true freshman. Yes, he will very likely get better. Hopefully, much better. Yes, he has some very good skills. Yes, he is a winner. Yes, Alabama can go unbeaten in the regular season with him. Yes, I want him to not only do well but develop into being one of the best QBs 'Bama's ever had. But as of right now, he is NOT a very polished passer at all. Saying that one day he will be does not make him one now.

Are you talking the throw in the end zone against ole miss? The one where the TE stopped running to jump? Pass wasn't perfect but he stopped well short.

Lol people still think Barnett is better
Time and again, someone is always better. Barnett made 3 or 4 throws with a 40 point lead that he couldn't do.
Hurts is the guy and will continue to improve. Live with it.
Let's be honest. If Hurts doesn't overthrow the TE in the end zone, this whole thread doesn't happen. Sadly, that's how fickle some of our fans are.

Sure - I agree - his accuracy needs improvement. However, I think a lot of it has to do with being a step behind at times and adjusting to the speed of his receivers.

If Hurts couldn't run he wouldn't be playing. His running abilities are a significant aspect to his game, and is something that doesn't require seasoning like passing does. Again, you talk about his running like it's something to be ashamed of?

Agreed - he has work to do. However, he isn't any worse a thrower than a lot of the non-runners I've seen at QB for us the last 10-15 years, including some that won titles.

Easily both their faults he stopped the route plain as day. Everyone in the game thread agreed upon that.

Oh, come the frick on. The TE stopped running after Hurts released the ball.

It wasn't a perfect throw but Hentges clearly stops, stutter steps then jumps. He probably would have had to catch it up above his head or jump for it, but if he didn't misjudge it and stop it was a catchable ball for sure.

We have to remember that he is still just a kid and has only one full game under his belt.
He has 563yds passing so far with a 61.5% completion rate and only 1 int.
and he has 197 rushing yards. 146 of that was against Ole Miss. He didn't run much at all (if any) against Western KY.
He will catch up to the speed of the game. When he does, watch the heck out.

The biggest negative I see with Hurts isn't his fault at all. I hate how Lane is using his athletic ability as an excuse to transition into a soft, read-option offense. You would think after last year having it blatantly illustrated what a power run game does for Alabama, Lane wouldn't do this. But West Coast is going to West Coast.
As far as Hurts right now? The kid just has "it". The QB position is more from the neck up than the shoulder down. This kid is magnitudes better in poise and grasp of the game than your basic true frosh QB.

FSU freshman qb threw for 412 yards... who is to say a freshman cant be successful throwing the ball against other freshman dbs when throwing to ridley, stewart, simms, foster, howard?

FSU's QB has an entire full year advantage over Jalen. No one is saying he can't be successful, seeing as how he's already being successful.

So does Barnett. That is my point exactly. Hurts for Heisman

Did I miss some open scrimmage or practice or even a game in which Blake Barnett came in and blew everyone away?

Obviously BB did something right to start against USC
