Yea 2013 Ole Miss is not 2014 Ole Miss

I hope to be able to find out. All I remember is everybody in the world picking OM in that game last year and talking about how good they were. I guess Mizzou is just the destroyer of dreams and cause good teams to fall apart for the rest of the season.

What i do get totally fricking sick of is all the "stars" talk...the kids been in school for 3 years frick his stars, he can either play or not at that point.
Are we talking about Thai food or football?

I agree that Missouri probably deserves more respect than they seem to get around here and the UGA game was certainly an anomaly.

this is great though:

Our D is good enough to keep it within 24

Did you mean 24 points? Give yourself more credit than that. There's no way Bama would be favored by that much

what if I told you...bama's defense is better than ours.

And you'd be playing in front of a predominantly bama crowd instead of your homefield.

Tough to say. Pinkel craps the bed in big games, so I took that into account. This team is too bipolar to get a real read on how they would stack up against a top team in the county.

All I can say is that as an Alabama person I'd much rather play Mizzou than UGA. And I feel like that's a pretty fair assessment of the situation based on total body of work, head to head and eye test.

Your D was good, but Mauk couldn't even hit wide open receivers in that game. I don't think taking 38-0 and tacking on another 14 points is the right way to look at it.

This team seems to do better on the road.

I don't think any Mizzou fans think we're a better team than UGA...if we win out we will just have been better at taking advantage of opportunity like we did against SCAR last year.

And there is no need to apologize for that.

Completely fair.

I still can't believe UGA got dominated by Florida. Very bizarre.

This thread should be re-labeled "Hourly Missouri Rant Subject". You don't see posters from another SEC school spend so much time crying about being picked to lose a couple games this year.

It's the closest thing you will see to a melt after a victory.

Florida is just a train wreck in certain areas including turnovers.

I know everyone can play the "what if" game, but look at the games they lost.

Alabama 42-21 : turnovers from UA helped here

LSU 30-27 : 3 turnovers, one to give up the GW kick

Missouri 42-13 : give up less than 150 yards and lose by 30. Per Connelly's metrics they gave Mizzou 28 pts on turnovers not including the ST scores.

South Carolina 23-20 OT : blocked FG and blocked Punt

I mean, with just half their turnovers Florida would probably be 7-2 right now. Just a maddening team.

One of those games where they got off the bus and expected the other team just to roll over and after Florida hit us in the mouth we never responded. It was bad all the way around. Poor coaching, poor play, weird fumbles and Florida just ran it down our throats and was the better team that day. No excuses

Good point- Actually reminds me alot of UGA for all of those same reasons. You're right that it seems alot more likely that UA would blow-out the spread vs. Missouri doing the same.

Missouri is definitely on a good trajectory though. Don't know any fans personally but would you honestly say you thought Missouri would be contending for (and winning) the East as regularly as they have been?

The real change in common perception will be when the recruiting classes start to catch up to the level of the team's performance. I'm not sure why they can't ever seem to land a top-30 class, but that is really the root of why they are always underdogs against teams with worse records.

You've played toledo, SC, florida, and atm on the road.

You realize bama is multiple heads and shoulders better than any of those teams right?

Can any mizz people give an idea of the HS talent in the state? I would assume it is somewhat close to the surrounding states, but I really have no idea.

We could go the vols route and start a bunch of topics trying to pinpoint the season that we become the dominant force in the SEC. Would that be better?

Better than the surrounding states except for probably IL and TN...nowhere near GA/FL/TX/LA

Offense is playing better now

Let's see how you do this weekend.

In the last 3 games, you've scored:

24 vs Vandy - who has given up 28 & 34 in the games since y'all played. They are 102nd in points allowed (32 ppg).

20 vs Kentucky - who gave up 45 the game before y'all and 63 & 50 in the two games since. They are 92nd in points allowed (30.1 ppg).

34 vs TAMU - who gave up 59 & 38 points to their two SEC opponents prior to you but held ULM to 16. They're 78th in points allowed (27.1 ppg).

For the season, in SEC games excluding Mizzou:

Vandy is giving up 36.8 ppg. Y'all scored 24.

Kentucky is giving up 40 ppg. Y'all scored 20.

TAMU is giving up 39.3 ppg. Y'all scored 34.

You're looking better, yes. But you're doing it against competition that is suspect at best.
