Officially no, but if you think the committee's opinion will be dramatically different you're kidding yourself.
The 4 teams picked for the playoff will be among the top 5-6 ranked teams every year.
I mean, the AP hasn't been part of the official formula for 10 years now, but their rankings still largely mirrored all the others. It gives you a good consensus overall opinion.
