Nah. It's just an added benefit.

There were threads the past couple of days that you would have enjoyed. Sorry you missed them.

Yes. And there were solutions to this. For instance, the UT game in BR in 2005 they did not allow tailgating, parking lots were not manned, and concessions we're very slim. Or they could have just played it during the remaining bye weeks.

Or, as I said earlier. They could have played it without an audience.

Explain this for me a bit more.

Police? Traffic control, restocking concessions???

Remember, concessions got hit pretty hard. They don't stock enough for two games in BHG. What if they ran out of water like they did a couple of years ago?

What do you think parking would look like around UF with the students back in their spots?

Idaho didn't want to stay. How do you fix that?

I think you should start a logistics company if you could have pulled it off. Not kidding. You'd be rich. Consider it.

I'm done with this thread. Have a good one.

They could have played it without fans. Like the SEC Basketball Tournament that was moved to the GA Dome.

There were options.

One option they could have considered is what Oregon State did a couple of years ago when Hurricane Issac postponed their late August game because Nicholls couldn't get their team on the plane in time. The game was postponed to the same weekend as the Pac 12 title game, if and only if the Beavers weren't in the title game and Nicholls didn't make the FCS playoffs - a safety valve if the Beavs needed a win for bowl eligibility. Since both teams had nothing better to do, the game was played and Nicholls was annihilated 77-3.

Would it have mattered if Nicholls and Oregon State never played in 2012?

Not at all. And beating the shite out of Nicholls was cold comfort after getting beat again at home by the Ducks.

I'm sure Muschamp doesn't care too much about the possibility of missing out on a bowl by not playing Idaho this year. Expectations are slightly different in Gainesville vs. Corvallis.

i understand the logistics nightmare it creates.

things certainly wouldnt be optimal, but we could have played the game or rescheduled instead of not playing at all. i dont know that the lost game time comes back and bites us, but it doesnt help.

true that about the water.

Golfer is creating a logistics company. Send him your resume. He's going to be filthy rich and you might as well get on board and getcha some too.

Yeah, it's a concern because you didn't get live reps but fortunately after EMU is UK. While UK may be improved, we should still win. I'm hoping that they are actually improved so that our offense does not implement the dreaded "vanilla" garbage. I long for opening it up and throwing the ball up 48 again. None of this vanilla crap against weaker opponents. Put them away and get the 2nd team some reps.

See that's part of what concerns me. The system Florida will presumably be running against Bama should be a much higher octane offense (insert joke about Florida and offense) so I'm wondering how the coaches will deal with being setback. A lot of teams run boring vanilla to keep other teams from seeing more than they have to show but many also do that because in the first 3 weeks they're building on and adding to the playbook - seeing if the team executes, what they're capable of and then adding more flavor.

Being behind a week I'm not sure what Muschamp and Roper will do. On one hand you don't want to call so much that you confuse your team when they're learning a whole new system and set them up fail or lose confidence that they can execute but on the other you've got to see what they can do in a live game and what they're ready for.

That said, UK's offense may be potent enough to force more of the playbook open earlier. It's going to be interesting to see whether or not Jeff Driskel can finally live up to the hype and thrive in Roper's system.

You really don't see the difference in adjusting for a hurricane that you know is coming at least 2 days prior to kickoff and a virtually unprecedented cancellation of a game due to an everyday occurrence in the Southeast (a thunderstorm)?

How do we know how LSU would react if a lightning cancelled an entire game? Has that ever happened to any other school in the history of the SEC?

ETA: Also moving a game before it's been played to a different time is a little different than we've already dragged everyone out here and wasted an entire night in the stadium.

I have zero love for the University of Florida but I don't understand why people care so much if Florida does or doesn't play Idaho.

Other than trolling value, obviously.

Not too worried about that with our D to be honest. Offense has me wondering for sure for us though. Who knows. I want them to absolutely demolish EMU though.

I like LSU though.

Did you experience the UF Spurrier days?

I have to think there's a good bit of trolling on the part of Golfer and others.

It's really not a big deal.

lol. i didnt say they would still have all the vendors available, the trick would be getting the police. fans would just have to go without hot dogs. i just think we shoulda played it regardless if people could have hotdogs or not.

long as folks get water and can go to the bathroom, thats all ya need. so maybe the stands wouldnt be packed, still better to get the reps.

im not arguing that it wouldnt be a logistical nightmare.

That's probably 99% of why I hate Florida. I went to LSU in the mid 90s.

The other 1% would be the first time I went to a game in Gainesville I saw a bunch of pro Palestinians rallying and bitching up a blue streak. Then a cop came and made up pour our drinks because we were standing on the sidewalk.
