Logistics. Takes more than a day to prep for a game.
Field prep
Stadium clean-up/prep
Ticket sales
New/more concessions
Lining up stadium employees to work
Etc.

over 600 law enforcement needed to stage game...who in freaking world is going to contact all personell at midnight masking calls to see who is available to staff a game? hundreds of vendors and tix takers...who the hell is calling their homes at midnight to see if they can work sunday am? a lotta crap has to happen to make a game happen...you don't just open the damn gates.

on top of Idaho is already booked out of lodging, logistics very difficult to get sll their equipment and staff ready and make more arrangements...and iron out $$ payouts if played the next morning.

Those who are curious can watch us at 4pm tomorrow and although we will thump E. Michigan, I don't think we want to reveal all our cards just yet...so sand bagging is possible.

Think about all the little things that have to coordinated and then try to do that with 12 hours.

Traffic control, parking lots, fans travel, refs, concessions restocked, cops scheduled, security brought back, clean up stadium from the debris left by fans, paint field, meeting rooms for Idaho, hotels for Idaho, flights for Idaho, equipment, semis for Idaho, and on and on and on

I doubt we would've learned much from watching them play Idaho anyway.

LSU has moved multiple games on short notice in recent years. It isn't that complicated.

This question should probably be it's own thread but do you think UF getting behind a week will hurt the team? Coaches often say that the biggest improvement comes in week 2 and that makes since because you've got things on tape and you can breakdown what's going wrong and what's going right but there's also improvements to be made in the first few weeks. This puts you behind a week and starting SEC play in your 2nd week (UK) then Bama.

I had UF to beat Bama earlier this year but I'm a bit troubled at y'all losing a week. There's only so much you can do in practice without any game film to correct players.

Yeah, it's a concern because you didn't get live reps but fortunately after EMU is UK. While UK may be improved, we should still win. I'm hoping that they are actually improved so that our offense does not implement the dreaded "vanilla" garbage. I long for opening it up and throwing the ball up 48 again. None of this vanilla crap against weaker opponents. Put them away and get the 2nd team some reps.

in 12-14 hours as you represented with a team from as far away as Idaho?

What games where they and what years? I don't doubt you I just don't remember any team moving from Sat to Sunday just with a snap of the fingers.

Parking on a Sunday would be a forking nightmare.

They could have played it without fans. Like the SEC Basketball Tournament that was moved to the GA Dome.

There were options.

We moved App State up 8-10 hours less than 24 hours ahead. And Tennessee was moved on Friday to a Monday while LSU's campus and BR was still central command for Katrina.

Moving a game up a day when you have a few days to see "hurricane threat approaching" is a little different than finding out that night that your game is cancelled and the team you already have in town was expecting to be headed home on a 5 hour (minimum) flight.

I can get you Foley's phone number and I can probably get Idaho's AD's number too if you want. You should probably get in touch with them, express your displeasure and inform them how it should have been done. No?

I'm not displeased. It was just the easy way out, IMO.

Idaho gets their $950k, UF shortens their season, and doesn't have to deal with any suspensions.

I see your confusion now.

Explain this to me. Just this part.

How do you get staffed (temp workers) to come back when they weren't scheduled. Sure some would have been able but not all. How do you get cops rescheduled? Where do you park? Security has to be brought back (again part timers)?

I'm not trying to be mean but you are being silly. It's not an easy task. You are assuming that Idaho wanted to stay. Hell no they didn't. They got paid anyway and didn't risk any injuries. They'd be foolish to stay. Anyway, call Foley and Idaho.

Do explain how to do that on short notice?

Are you like golfer and think there's a magic button?

Have you ever run a big event? I just got done running a charity golf tournament. Holy hell, it would have never been possible to reschedule that the next day in 12-14 hours much less a football game.

Think people.
