I think that was a last minute change of mind by Miles. Could still happen here. I honestly think Alleva has someone lined up, but the deal isn't finalized, and the person could back out.

Yeah, I really think Miles was gone if not for the National Championship. No way could he have had that looming in his head leading up to possibly winning his first and probably only National Championship.

As it sits today, I'm sure no deal is in writing, and whoever LSU has in their sights has a possible out, as Miles had.

i can promise you no deal is in writing at this point. Any current coach worth his salt is not talking directly to another program. They are probably talking through their agents but I would imagine if anything is in place it is a verbal agreement.

No, I am not. Only so many guys can be coaches in the SEC. Jimbo can only beat or lose to who is on his schedule. He has his flaws like any coach, but he has done great under the circumstances. He is 6-1 against the SEC and is 2-0 against them in bowls including the national championship. He won 29 games in a row. That is hard to do in any conference .

Saban had been killed in 3 consecutive bowl games at Michigan State by teams like Stanford and Washington (and LSU with DiNardo) before LSU hired him. It was under different circumstances than what he had at LSU. It didn't make him a shitty coach. Miles also was blown out in his bowl before LSU hired him and had finished 5th in his division. They are all different situations though.

Saban, when asked about kiffen's "genius", called fisher the best offensive coordinator he has ever employed. Saban is 62 and fisher is 50. If fisher ends up at LSU, a changing of the guard in the SEC west is inevitable within a couple of seasons. It's hard for the older guys to keep up - even saban. Bama fans see the writing in the wall. They're not dumb.

If LSU is truly going to fire LM (which appears to be the case), I can't imagine that they don't already have a guy lined up.
Speculation is entertaining (and understandable), but meaningless.

explain the writing on the wall. Like Bama wont find a great replacement when NS retires.

I'm sure Alabama will find a suitable replacement. The question is how soon will you need it. I'll take the under on 3 seasons.

Your memory is bad then because Bear had a 12-0 NC in 1979, won 10 games in 1980, 9 games in 81, and did drop to only 4 wins in 82. He won a NC 3 years before he retired.

Now Les has trailed off more than that obviously, but he deserves better than this BS.
You don't fire Les Miles to hire a Jimbo Fisher if you have any honor.

The move makes no sense. It's easy to win at Fsu the fan base loves him he has full support at a state with the most five star recruits. Life is easy there. Moving to LSU is more challenging because of the Sec west and he still has to play Florida who has a good coach again. Insanely more difficult.

Good advice to remember when Alabama loses 2 in a row to LSU. Saban is a pretty old dude. Hopefully, he goes quietly for you guys rather then making Alabama keep him in order to preserve its honor.

he is the new 50. He is in great shape and shows he can adapt. So I think age is just a number to him.

Shula had one winning record in 4 seasons and refused to change his OC. In fact he refused to even take Mal Moores phone calls after the season ended.

Saban is closer to 70 then 50. The ability to change and adapt is slowly eroding ..... but no doubt it is eroding and soon to gain steam.
