Henry was sick last week - barely practiced, only played one snap in the second half.

Give the guy a break

In terms of one man teams, I think Leonard Fournette edges out Cam Newton as best the SEC ever saw.

I won't go that far but we wouldn't have beaten State without Fournette.

Claiming that Leonard is a "one-man team" is just naive.

Then everyone in the country, with the exception of LSU fans, is naive.

Interesting. How did you come up with inferior competition? Was it strictly by the "name" of the teams or did you look at stats?

TBD

I bet LF is getting paid more though. Inflation and all.

It was mostly the eye test since defensive stats after just 4 games against unbalanced competition doesn't tell anyone much.

certainly should take that into account, but should also look at stats about rushing defense...one team has played his #1 and #3 RBs, and that team is ranked 83rd in rushing which is the lowest NC has gone against. LF has only gone against 1 higher ranked rushing D...Chubb's top rush D has let up less than 50 yards in 2 of their games, but he said it was eye test, so it doesn't really matter. I just disagree when watching both them run that NC has gone against inferior talented rush D's.

Been waiting for this all week! Don't know if you noticed I started a thread asking where it was at on wednesday night. I really look forward to your assessments as they do come off unbiased and give good info. I wish someone would take the time like you do to do this for other positions as well, although it would be more difficult to ascertain who is best at other positions.

Thanks for everything you do...i <3 u

ULM and Southern.

As bad as Auburn is, they are better than both of those teams. Syracuse is better than Auburn and Vanderbilt.

STTDB.

Joseph bringing the heat with SoS links. I have misgivings about SoS evals this early too, but since this is the first time Joseph has argued in favor of LSU:

Yes, but with such a small sample those numbers are heavily influenced by the 200+ yards LF ran off.

Also, the style of play the 3 or 4 teams those opponents have played factor a ton into it.

After 7 or 8 games those defensive stats will have more weight.

Nice to see Michel get a mention. He is a special talent, and getting better.

I wouldn't go that far, not now or ever (though mostly because of the position). I'm not saying Cam Newton is the best college player of all time, but what I am saying is that Cam Newton in the right offense would bring 90% of FBS teams to the playoffs.

I'm not even saying he's the best college player (Andrew Luck was a better college QB); I'm saying that he's the best one man team I think college football will ever see, at least in my lifetime. Cam Newton playing for Vanderbilt would immediately make them a favorite to play for a NC.

However, the fact that LF can be a "one man team" at the RB position is unreal. And if he continues what he's doing then he will far surpass AP and join the Herschel and Bo in the "who was better" debate. And he'd probably win. But that's a long ways off, and I don't think that will happen.

Michel and Drake are both extremely talented backs that don't quite get their due because of being over shadowed.

The fact that Fournette has made LSU fans forget how bad their QB is probably the strongest argument to be made for having him #1.

From another thread, I've got your stats for you:

quote:

Why wouldn't you look at rushing defense? Wouldn't that be a much more relevant stat? Or is it that it doesn't fit your argument...

For LSU, opponents rank 19,80, and 108 currently.

For UGA, opponents rank 37,74, 82, and no rank for Southern.

Then factor in that LSU's opponents have slid further down because we are averaging more rush yards per game, it's obvious who has played better defenses and who has been more effective against them.

TL:DR? Stop being a homer. There is no metric that shows Chubb to be better than LF.

Also, I don't think Henry should even be on this list. I think he's the worst RB of the Saban era, at least since before Ingram.

His size/speed combo is sick, but he doesn't actually seem that big until he's 10 yards past the line of scrimmage and running in a straight line toward the endzone. In that situation, there's no one better than him. But for the rest of the time, he's really not that scary compared to past RBs.

It's actually really weird - I don't understand how I guy that big can be so soft. He's the anti-Warrick Dunn. He's not a natural RB (in fact I'm not sure he wouldn't be better suited in some sort of 3/4 LB role), and you can immediately see that from his HS tapes. When Bama fans were all excited about him coming out of school, I was initially afraid: someone that big shouldn't be that fast. But after viewing his HS tapes I saw there was nothing to be afraid of: he was just the biggest guy on the field.

And FWIW, I get that same impression from Dylan Moses right now.

Now Bo Scarbrough scares the daylights out of me. His HS film was arguably better than LF's. I'm very excited to see him play (except against us, that is). Hope he can shake the issues that have been holding him back so we can enjoy what he can do.

He's so bad that he's in the top half of both QB rating and completion percentage. Wow, that's a terrible compliment to the best rusher in the nation.

Do you suck so bad on purpose, or what?
