I cannot see Arkansas winning the SECW next year. The hawgs have won 2 SEC games in two seasons. They won't jump to winning 6 or 7 SEC games in 2015 UNLESS we have total collapse of several SECW teams.
Every bit of this, Ark showed promise at the end of the season but they aren't going to win the west.!
I'd go with this order & groupings
Bama
Au/Lsu
Ole miss/Ark
MSST /TAMU

Stuff gets shaken up every year in the SEC. Some teams rise, meaning others will fall.
Not really in the SECW, for the past 7 years it's been either Bama (4), LSU (1) or Au (2)n
Hell actually it's been a lot longer than that.
Until some besides Bama, LSU or Au win the west these 3 teams are teams to beat with Bama currently being the most consistent.

I would love to win the West next season, I believe any Hog fan would be delighted with that result.
I do think we are still a year away from being in that discussion though. We probably need another year of recruiting the right players to solve our depth issues (which was a major concern for us last year) and I think it will probably take a few games for our defense to get up to speed since we are losing some real team leaders on that side of the ball.
Yes, we looked good at the end of the season and with any luck we will continue to improve, but there are some real land mines in our schedule waiting to be stepped on and it is a question of how long it takes to get our defense to spin up to speed.
I'd say middle of the road would be a pretty good landing spot for us. We really won't know how things will shake out until a few game's into the season though.

You can't say that. There is no solid # or #2, meaning everyone can beat everyone. Lsu , arky, and A&M are the only three that cannot place higher than the bottom four.

quote:Based on what? The only team to beat us by more than a TD was Auburn in week 1 and Georgia and they aren't in the West. Bama beat us by 1 point, MSU beat us by a TD, Mizzou beat us by a TD, aTm beat us by a TD in OT.

Even a minimal amount of improvement from last year's team turns last year into a 10, possibly 11 win season. It's not crazy. Unlikely? Sure. But it's definitely possible.

When you end the season as hot as Tenn (winning 4 out of their last 5 games, dominating in their bowl game) and Ark ( winning 3 out of their last 4, shutting out 2 SEC opponents in back-to-back weeks, also dominating in their bowl game).
I think its pretty understandable why those teams would be confident.....

I'm all LSU but in my eyes the best returning QB is Jeremy Johnson for auburn

Agree, he looked really solid in the first half against us. Some of it was lack of game film for us and just the general uncertainty, but most of it was him being a badass QB. Gus probably would have done a lot of his team a favor by keeping him at QB and letting Marshall move to DB, but that is hindsight.
As to us winning the west, I would love it of course and it is possible...but I would probably say we fit in the second tier of schools most likely to do so. Us beating Tennessee is absolutely critical and I think we take Mizzou at home this year, but our west road schedule is really rough and unless we really luck out with who loses to who and when there isn't much chance of us finishing higher than third or fourth even with substantial improvement. Having said that, every team better come to play next season or there will be upsets every single weekend.

keep telling yourself that. LSU will take a step back on defense and the offense will be about the same. there is a difference between being just a fan and understanding the game you are the former

And you know so much about LSU football. You are comical that LSU will take a step back on defense....

I appreciate the vote of confidence but we don't have an oc right now. Hopefully whoever we get will be great in the long run but it still might take a bit for their system to get going.

Aside from Auburn no west team thumped LSU even when you "knew" we couldn't throw. If we can spread the ball around this year you can go ahead and print up the tshirts lol.
Bama, LSU, Arkie for 1-3 in any order

The west is wide open going into next year. There's going to be a very good team sitting in 7th at the end of the year. Ranking them is just splitting hairs IMO. I'm going to try though.
1. Bama
2. LSU
3. Arky
4. Texas A&M
5. Auburn
6. Ole Miss
7. Miss State
I think State loses too much to win the west, but anybody else theoretically could. A&M and LSU should be improved. Ole Miss has a lot of talent returning. Auburn has plenty of talent to go around as well. Arkansas looks primed to build off of last year. Bama is Bama.

I really think Arkansas fans might be in for a letdown if they really think they will win the West.
They are improved a lot, but that probably means 8-9 wins. Looking at their schedule it looks pretty rough.
A&M at a neutral site. They won last year. It was close and probably will be again.
@Tennessee - they are rising as well.
The very next week @ Alabama
@ Ole Miss
@ LSU
Factor in playing Mizzou and Auburn at home, I don't see how they avoid at least three, probably four losses.
