Herschel would have been the greatest pulling guard in the history of colloge football.

I lived in Augusta in the early 90s and you would still see bumper stickers that read: "God bless Mrs. Walker"

Why get into "who's best" arguments? I watched both on TV and Walker/Jackson were both linebacker size with track speed....thats what made them dangerous.

I was living in Georgia in 1980 and remember well the Larry Munson call for the UT game when Walker was a true frosh and how he plowed over defenders (with hobnail boots).

Herschel wanted to be an FBI agent...but because of his football fame the agency could not hire him. He unfortunately got himself ineligible by dealing with agents...the result Im sure from being lured by a fellow student into accepting money. Although relieved that UF didnt face him anymore....it would have been nice to have a two time Heisman winner in the SEC.

As for Bo Jackson, I can honestly say that he took himself out of a UF game back around 1984 when our defense was laying the wood on him. He probably didnt want to put his future pro career in doubt with an injury. He had unbelievable talent and amazing speed if he had a crease...the 0-60 speed was something to see. You had to hit him hard before he reached the line of scrimmage....as you would only see tail lights if he got space.

Believe it or not...there is a RB currently in the SEC who has the tangibles that Walker/Jackson possessed and that is one Derrick Henry at 6'3 240 lbs. Probably better if he was 6'1 as were Walker/Jackson....but he is maybe a fraction of a second slower also. He may bust out this year with the all the snaps he has under his belt, which should enable him to run and not think. Walker/Jackson had offenses simple as middle schools...pitch right, left and dive up the middle.

Lets not forget another great RB from the SEC...one that I watched many times, Emmitt Smith. He was a different style of runner, 5'8 and tree trunks for legs, had great sense of balance and extremely difficult to tackle...he always leaned forward to pick up 2 or 3 more yds. He was also instrumental in helping UF get past the dark stages of NCAA probabtion. Emmitt was # 1 recruit in the nation and after a battle with AU, he was signed to UF.

Henry is a fantastic back but he's not in the stratosphere of Herschel and Bo. He plays smaller than his size with his upright running style. Herschel and Bo got behind their pads and punished you.

Good point, the way I see their CFB careers they 1a and 1b.

My point is Bo was so talented, a physical anomaly he didn't need the work outs

No doubt. BOTH great backs! I have a LOT of respect for both of them. It's impossible to name one or the other as better. You can only go with your heart.
