The majority of LSU fans were doubting Alabama's front 7.

Here's just one example. Unsurprisingly, your incredibly foolish comment was the first reply -

Pocic is going to eat their NT for lunch and Ragland will be on his arse for most of the night.

Two weeks before the game I stated that Fournette would struggle to surpass 100 yards vs Alabama, and yet I was downvoted by our own fans into oblivion.

Agreed. I've said previously if you swap the two backs around that night, the results would have been swapped as well. Another thing, just like against OM, Fournette has had 4 or 5 runs of 50 or more yards called back for penalties which had zero effect on the play this season. Losing the starting fullback and tight end for the season have had serious negative effects on LSU's running game as well. Injuries are part of the game, and those two were devastating to the Tigers. The three freshmen who started on the OL against OM will be mighty good come next season.

I'm glad you linked that. Got to retroactively downvote several idiotic comments.

And where the hell did Hollow go?

I don't know about the other penalties, but the hold/tackle in the Ole Miss game is what allowed booger to run for 50 plus on that first carry.

The interesting thing about that run is that Henry would have went the distance.

Well, it is also difficult to break tackles when 4 people are hitting you at once. I'm sure if he was given the chance to go up against a solo tackler he would've broken a lot more.

Alabama had quite a few solo tackles on him. Even DBs like Humphrey and Jackson had solos.

It appeared to be the best in the nation. You can't doubt us for believing that after what they did the first 7 games.

Sure we can. It was fool's gold. Everyone you played except Florida is in the bottom half of the country in run defense. Eastern Michigan is the worst in the country. USCe is 112. Besides Alabama, Arkansas is 19 and Ole Miss is 28. Racking up big numbers against mostly shitty defenses was no reason to think you had the best OL in the country. Heck, ours still isn't all that great compared to what we've grown accustomed to.

LF is the best back in the SEC but you could put bo jackson back there and a good defense will shut him down if they know your QB cannnot hit an open man 10 yards down the field. that's lsu's problem. they an run over shitty defense s but everyone knows their QBS are dogshit so they stack the box and no RB is that good

Lost in the analysis:

LF broke two tackles against Alabama (by contrast, he broke 10 against Arky). He had 27 broken tackles over the stretch of Auburn/Syracuse/EMU.

The fact is, even when LF encountered a player in Crimson, he was unable to win those battles either.

I agree. UF had some chances to get him behind the line or at the line, and missed a lot of those tackles. Holding a RB to, say, a 3 yard carry is pretty good. However, when you had a chance to get him at -2, it's a 5 yard differential. That dramatically affects the probability of making a 1st down. I thought that was the primary difference making LSU the winner and UF the loser in that game. UF tackled very poorly in the Vols game. In the LSU game they missed some as well, but LSU gets credit for a lot of those.

I don't think Bama missed on any of their opportunities to stop him at or behind the LOS. When they won at the point of attack, they closed the deal. It was the difference in the game.

If there's one primary difference between UF and Bama on defense, it's that Bama has been a better tackling team this year. UF is far better on the back end, but Bama rarely let's people go once they get to them.
