It's the people that can't seperate a friendly tounge and cheek conversation in good fun from a pesonal attack, I don't even like talking football with those people. Even Those of my own fanbase that are like that provide the lulz.

i've watched it a couple of times. but its been a while back. i just thunk they glossed over some truly fantastic games in this rivalry, to hurry up and get to us crazy fans. and thats a shame, for those of us that love the game way more than the idiocy. besides, here in northeast al where i live, tn is the biggest rivalry.

Just a terrible production. Wouldn't recommend it for anyone.

Roll Tide War Eagle was terrible.

In real life, the vast majority of AU and UA fans get along fine. We're generally complimentary to strangers, and might talk a little friendly smack with friends. It could get out of hand in the heat of the moment if there is alcohol involved, but it's really not common.
Sounds like A&M/Texas
Or really, any other major in-state rivals, for the most part.
I'm in the rare position of liking both schools. I know that's sacrilege, but I have family that went to UA, and identify more with AU. Looking forward to hobnobbing with both fanbases this year

Roll Tide/War Eagle was a shite representation of the rivalry....although in my opinion the rivalry has gone to shite as well...
In a true rivalry there has to be an element of respect for the opponent and that is gone from today's Iron Bowl....without an element of respect for your rival you just wind up with a group of people who hate each other...and a couple of dead trees......its pathetic

99% of the IB history wasn't recognized by that show. I thought it was pretty lacking.

As bad as it made Updyke look, to me the biggest POS was Gay Talese... The elitist pompous writer from New York. Updyke can at least be seen as a sick person (his legal defense is he had too much Bama in him)
Talese was rejected by dozens of colleges in New Jersey and nearby states. He eventually was accepted at the University of Alabama,

Man, let your hatred go. Talese pretty much started New Journalism and his non-fiction stuff in Esquire is considered some of the greatest writings of all time.
Oh, and your persona on here is exactly the type of thing that makes the rivalry shite.

This is all true but he still came across as an arrogant a-hole in RT/WE.

Okay. However, I was addressing the not so subtle rebuke of his education/work by your NtY cohort.

To echo the other sentiments, yeah, it is a shite production. Was disgusted by the airtime Updyke got. I know no one who is anything like that POS. While it is made clear Updyke is a sidewalk bammer, what no one ever mentions is that he is a fricking cop from Texas. I don't count him as an Alabama fan. I don't even count him as an Alabamian. If he was at least a native son he would have grown up with people who went to both schools, and would have learned how to coexist like a human being. Just a sick individual and those out there (and on here) who are presumably legitimate members of society who make him out to be more than he is are just as damaging to this rivalry as the lunatic Harvey types. You know who you are.

Yeah but the national perception is that much of that fanbase is just like Updyke.
