Criminal that team didn't win it all.

I always heard they did not get along that well ... which is probably why they underachieved.

'85, that was my third CWS if I remember correctly ...MSU lost to who, was it eventual national champ Miami? Arkansas beat us 1-0 in the 1st game in 14 innings, then Okie State knocked-us-out.

Miami was very good that year.

They're doing a special on the 2007 Vandy team?

The format was really strange back then. MSU won the first two games, defeating Big 8 power Oklahoma State and SWC powerhouse Arkansas before falling to Texas.

After State's loss to Texas, there were four teams left and the semifinals were re-ordered. Texas played Arkansas because MSU had already played them, and MSU played Miami and lost 6-5 on a 2 RBI single off the pitchers foot.

Miami went on and beat Texas twice to win the natty.

Thought I remembered Thigpen giving up a homer to Miami & the pitcher who got hit with a hit ball as Gene Morgan (my old fishing buddy) Vs. Texas...

Format was not strange, it was a straight double elimination tournament. I think what people forget is that you always had some team not getting eliminated when it was supposed to.

Texas and Oklahoma St were the best teams that year, Miami got hot and they had a closer.
