I met Les and his family on a hunt right after he was fired. Great guy. Hope he does well at Kansas.

Lol. Miles sucks as a head coach. Good luck recruiting players to Kansas.

Nobody seems to grasp where Miles is at this point if he had to take probably the worst P5 job in the country.

Miles couldn’t get LSU to the playoff and now he’s going to take kansas there? Goodness...

That part is true now, but it didn't used to be that way.

From 1980 to 1999 LSU was 40th in the Nation for winning %

From 2000 to 2017 it was 4th in winning %

Any program can be built back up, It just takes the right coaching staff and attitude

The only way Les gets in the playoffs if he has tix.

And KS can die in a fire.

Recruiting to Kansas will ultimately be his problem. He’ll snag a bunch of 3-star guys from Louisiana/Texas and maybe an occasional 4-star. Looking at the recruiting board, it’s the 4+ star players that are seriously lacking for them.

The best thing for Les was to have this break to look from the outside looking in about offensive schemes and to truly evaluate his shortcomings. I think Les will have them extremely competitive! I wouldn’t want to play them in 3 years.

I’m only upset he is not back in the sec coaching. I loved that guy. He was a good coach and loved being a coach.

How was Mangino able to win there? KU is an impossible job for the most part.

Have you seen KU's stadium? The entire program is pathetic. People thought Weis would have success there too because he had some at ND. It's not happening. Les will be gone in 4 years.

Les can make them respectable: 6-7 wins and a bowl. (In 3 years or so) Long game here is (see what I did there?) is to excite the administration, and get more funds for facilities improvements, in hopes that the NEXT coach can move further.

I suspect both Long and Miles will agitate to renew the MU/KU rivalry, to further enhance the need for funding, as well as generating some excitement. Even getting stomped by MU allows Long to point to the need for more funding.

Bill Self(ish) will be a big problem for all this, as any attention the Football program garners detracts from his position as Grand Poobah of KU sports. The dynamics of this will be fun to watch.

I think this is a fantastic hire for kU, about as good as I can imagine them getting.

But people thinking he’s gonna walk in there and turn it around overnight are crazy. They have a fantastic RB and nothing else. Complete rebuild, and he’s not recruiting to LSU now. He’s recruiting to some of the worst facilities at any Power 5 school and to a school where nobody gives a shite about football.

They do now. It takes building a foundation to get it there though. Saban was the one who set that foundation and Miles continued to build it. He's no Nick Saban but if Miles is there 5+ years, he will have them a solid foundation with way more talent than they've had in the last few decades

Miles will definitely improve the program, but schools that reside outside the fertile football recruiting grounds have an inherent disadvantage. That's why it's very unlikely that Nebraska will ever be the Nebraska of the 70s and 90s again. Few kids want to move to the state of Nebraska. Few kids want to move to the state of Kansas, either. And if the state of Missouri is any better, it's only marginally so.
