Team based i mean

Watched the documentary on him this morning on SECn and I admittedly didn't know much about his college career. During his 3 years in BR the Tigers never won the SEC tournament and never made the sweet 16 despite having one of the most dominant players in league history. I know he was a two time all american and AP player of the year but other than being bigger and stronger than everyone what was accomplished during shaq's time at LSU? Did he really earn a statue based on his college accomplishments?

Again I'm referring to team accomplishments. Why do you say no?

Statue is a little much. Maybe just a bust, I agree.

From a team performance standpoint, many feel that way. I wouldn't argue that either. Those teams had a ton of talent.

From an individual standpoint, certainly far from a bust. His LSU statue also has a lot to do with life after LSU as well. He just got it 2-3 years ago. Definitely a great representative of LSU.

Number 1 pick in the NBA draft would say that his college career was of benefit to him.

And one of the reasons why he left early was because of the hacking he took during his final year.

Never seen a coach jump out at an opposing player like that before goes a long way with kids looking for a coach to trust. Bet the other kid about shite himself "wtf is this old guy doing"

From a statistical standpoint, hell no.

From a team standpoint, hell yes. a lot of "what ifs" come to mind when you wonder what could have been had Stanly Roberts not failed out.

Still, I'd kill for LSU basketball to go to 10 straight NCAA tournaments, 2 final 4's, and 3 conference titles again if it meant loaded rosters underachieving

Chris Jackson shot way too much. Switch Jackson with Literal Green who was another Mississippi kid who went to UGA & Shaq
probably has 2 NCAA titles.

I was very young, but even at a tender age I remember wondering "how come LSU can't win postseason games with the biggest black guy alive?"..

follow up...would you rather have shaq or laettner? both played at the same time and both dominated but laettner had the slightly better surrounding cast. bottom line who would you had rather had at lsu

seems like laettner held his teammates more accountable and pushed them to be better. shaq admitted that most games lsu players were just out to get "theirs"

shaq, not a question in my mind.

He's one of the wealthiest athletes in the world and has given LSU brand recognition, publicity, and millions of dollars. The pros of having Shaq as an ambassador to LSU far outweighs switching the two up for nothing more than a potential championship

love this actual discussion. didn't think about that and since i was too young to enjoy either of them playing that would definitely benefit me more..plus I'd rather drink a beer and rap about kobe than sip wine with CL :

He was fun as shite to watch. Just didn't play long enough with Chris Jackson.

The guy has given millions of dollars to LSU and has been an incredible ambassador. I'm sure i could find a much more pointless statue on every SEC campus aside from Vanderbilt.

Shaq has done far more for LSU than anything the school can do for him. He might deserve two statues

Need to know who LSU lost to in the NCAA tourney Shaqs 2nd and 3rd year.

There were some great teams around that time. UNLV was loaded. Duke. The unforgettables or something like that for UK with Mashburn. Fab 5 for Michigan.

Can't remember if all of those were at the exact same time, but it was right around there.
