Etling was not injured against Wisconsin. Harris was the starter going into the season

Etling was hurt. But he wasn't the starter so it doesn't really matter.

In my opinion, yes.
Never followed his career closely but I never wanted to meet him as a Georgia fan.

ETA: anyone know what his record was against UGA (guessing that was mostly v. Mark Richt)??

Yes he was a good coach.

He won 2 SEC titles at LSU.
Mark Richt only won 2.
Urban Meyer only won 2.

And I can certainly understand wanting to get rid of a coach.
CMR was great, but he was done at UGA.

I think LSU fans might understand.

21-0. Something to be very proud of

You would give a left nut to lose 48-0 as long as you could say you went to the ship.

Only four active coaches have won a national title.

Only 7 have even played for one.

That's pretty pathetic.

Saban has dispatched four all by himself.

Les was never good at coaching. This makes tamu's 5 straight losses to him all the more embarrassing.

Top 5 coaches of Miles' generation:

Saban
Meyer
Dabo
Miles
Spurrier

In that order.

Stoops would be #6.

Towards the end of his LSU days he became like so many decade long coaches, paranoid. He stopped trusting his assistants, he stopped the trick plays that the team spent 3 qtrs setting up, the only thing he did well consistently was keep great coordinators and players (although he quit letting them coach and play).

The 01/2012 game clipped Miles.

The guy eats grass and can't string together a coherent sentence to save his life. His taste in women is suspect as well.

I'd say he coasted on the talent left by Saban and his assistants probably deserve a lot more praise than they got.

talent left by Saban

there were only a handful of starters there from Saban. Most notably Matt Flynn. Miles gets most of the credit for natty not Saban. Miles recruited well and took chances. In the end he had his hand in too much of the offense and that was his downfall. Not open to change.

Miles thinking is not out dated ! there are way more losing spread teams than pro style , spread teams can use smaller players which is the real reason for their popularity , to get big fast strong players you have to be in sec !

Lots of downvotes but I agree . Les was never a great coach. Good recruiter , motivator, and players coach. Horrible game day/ half time adjustment guy. Wasted a lot of talent in his years at LSU
