Can you look at your achievements in the last few years and say that it was worth the penalties and permanent damage to your reputation?

They did get better for especially 2014-2015, but it wasn't like they were a legitimately high level team.

Gonna be a while before they return to respectability.

That's the worst part - they didn't even win their division once.

I regret nothing. I hope we weather the storm and cheat our arse off more carefully.

How old are you? I remember when they had to forfeit (not vacate, actually forfeit) a bunch of wins all over a player signing a napkin for an agent. They got hammered over the Albert Means thing too.

Antonio Langham. He signed a napkin for an agent in NOLA shortly after they beat Miami in the Sugar Bowl.

This. Bama got repeat violator status in the Means case based on a basketball violation where no money ever changed hands. Invoking that status made us death-penalty eligible.

Langham ran out of money for the French Quarter bars and got $400 for signing.

The severity of the penalty was because the coach and AD didn't report it immediately to the NCAA. Stupid on their part.

I doubt Stallings even knew about it.

Sorry, I thought you were talking Means. Langham it wasn't the napkin, it was that Stallings deliberately tried to hide it.

Bama paid Means, a DT, $200k - Cam Newton money - in the year 2000. And then they had the booster that got caught, Logan Young, murdered because of it. Just imagine what they're paying now and what they're doing to cover it up.
