Nine. We need to play all teams in the conference as often as we did with 12 teams in the conference. Why even call it a football conference if you play teams in the other division so infrequently? IMO, the only way to do that and keep permanent opponents is to go to 9 games.

This guy gets it.

You'll be paired with it like this:

One of Alabama/Auburn/LSU

One of Arkansas/Ole Miss/State

They'll balance the historically strong with the historically weak.

It's a stupid and convoluted idea that will never happen. You don't have consistent divisions, Texas A&M and Florida could play for the division one year, then in the next year not play eachother or even be in the same division. It's mind numbingly stupid. I think the current proposal doesn't even have LSU and Alabama playing each other every year.

9 conference games
1 "legit" OOC game
2 creampuff OOC games (FBS only)

sounds like a pretty damn good scheduling model

9, We need to play cross division teams more than once every 14 years. Are we in the same conference or not?

Also, 9 games for SOS to get into playoffs since everybody else is doing it.

It is a clever and easy to understand idea that should be considered in light of how unsatisfactory the other available options are for a variety of reasons.

By rotating the divisions every two years you allow all 14 SEC teams to play complete home and away series with every single other team in the conference in a span of only four years (and you only have to play 8 conference games per year).

It preserves the rivalries deemed most necessary to the major schools (e.g. Bama/Tenn, Bama/Auburn, Auburn/UGA, UGA/Fla, Ole Miss/LSU, Ole Miss/MSU, etc) and balances the relative power of the difference rotating divisions to obtain a truly interesting and creative way of allowing for good out of conference series such as Fla/FSU, USC/Clemson, UGA/Ga Tech without unduly penalizing the different teams or giving different members of the same conference a different number of home and away games in conference play

There are a variety of reasons that this is a superior option:
*It allows more middle and lower tier SEC teams to get bowl eligible instead of mandating an extra 7 losses for the conference in regular season play.
*It increases the ability of schools to play good BCS teams out of conference.
*In so doing it also increases the money take for every team in the conference by allowing them to separately negotiate things like neutral site games or home games with home revenue.
*An 8 game conference schedule using the room mate switch proposal rotates every team through the entire conference more rapidly and more fairly through the entire conference than even a 9 game conference schedule with two fixed divisions.
*Most importantly it is competitively neutral, meaning that 50% of the conference would not be at a significant disadvantage RE: the home/away game rotations being unequal every year.

With four teams getting into National Championship, I would say nine is the best. Two-loss team from SEC certainly can still make it to title. (Even though LSU already did it) Plus it is way more entertaining for the fans.

Im down for 9, plus every team should play at least 1 legit out of conference opponent. Also, end the permanent rivalries. As a Bama fan, I'm all for preserving the traditions and would not want to see the Tennessee game end. However, when they roll off our normal conference schedule, Bama should schedule them as a non-conference. If the rivalries really are that important let the schools determine that by their schedule, but dont jeopardize the entire conference schedule to keep forcing the perma-rival games that some schools dont even want.

I say 9 SEC games to preserve cross division rivalry games, one game home/away/neutral against a big AQ team (rivalry games such as UGA/GT, Florida/FSU are kept, other schools find home & homes or one offs) and then two smaller BCS schools (Sunbelt, etc.) or one small BCS and one FCS for HC.

If we have to stay at 8 games, flip Auburn and Tennessee. Iron Bowl, TSIO and DSOR are preserved and competitive balance isn't changed that greatly.

UGA, Florida, and USC have rivalry games that are played home and away so those 3 schools must vote no.

A 9 game SEC schedule would take away a revenue producing home game for most teams so I doubt a 9 game schedule will pass. Also given the SECCG any schools that win big will be in the NC playoff most years even without a 9 game schedule.

I think AU wold vote for an 8 game schedule bc it allows the extra home game most years and the flexibility to do a kickoff game in ATL some years.

As a fan, I would like a 9 game SEC schedule bc it allows more games between AU and FL or AU and Tenn which were annual games when I was young.

My personal vote is 9 game schedule
