I just don't know what to say. I was in high school the last time Kentucky beat us.

. He really took over a tough situation but seems to be rebuilding the right way. Just an outsiders opinion.

I kept telling myself this was the case with Trent Johnson.....

I said from the start I didn't think Dooley was a good hire. The only things that have gotten him to where he is are his last name and placing himself in a nice and cosy spot up Saban's arse to ride his coattails. He talks a nice game at pressers and tries to imitate Saban as best he can, but he isn't 1/10000th the coach Sabes is.

Notice the word "trying". Maybe you can pay up front to be first in line.

shite. Good point. Now that you mention it, that does sound exactly what I've been telling myself about Trent too

On the bright side for Tenn, their recruiting has stayed pretty strong with Dooley in spite of the poor record.

Once again, this is about lack of players and talent right now.

This. Fulmer didn't recruit his last few years. The year Fulmer got fired and Kiffin got hired probably had a poor recruiting class due to coaching changes. Then the next year the same thing happened when Kiffin left and Dooley came in. So Dooley basically came in missing the previous 2 recruiting classes and the classes before that were probably not that great either.

Firing Dooley now would just leave yet another recruiting class ruined due to coaching transition. That would make 3 of the last 4 recruiting classes practically non-existent and leave UT with even less depth (if that is possible).

The class that Kiffin recruited and Dooley signed is pretty damn good. Next year he will have three solid classes at his disposal.

You guys are painful to watch right now, but you can't fire Dooley. Besides that, who could you get right now ? Anyone who sees Dooley trashed after two years will say no thanks.

You're not in a rebuilding phase. You're way past that. Tennessee is a bad program right now. It's not some random down year.

As bad as I hate to agree with you.... you are right.

You don't seem to understand that there are fewer than 10 players on this team who would make the two deep at any SEC school except for Ole Miss, UK, and Vandy.

I don't think Dooely can win a BCS but he can compete with Richt and Muschap for the SECE in two years. At that point, UT can make the call if they want to move on.

Firing Dooley right now would have the same results as giving SMU the Death Penalty.

So what's the excuse for losing to Kentucky.

Yeah, let's give him 4 seasons to compete for a division title. Sounds like the smart move.

It's not much different than Alabama was a few years ago. Tennessee sucks right now, but the right coach will win quickly.

Did Kansas have 3 different coaches in a span of 3 years?

Kansas did not have three coaches in 26 months.

As of this August, in addition to the normal graduation losses, UT had 38 players leave the program or get kicked off the team during those 26 months.

The Kentuckly loss is a bad loss. I get it. More turmoil and changes is not what is needed on the hill right now.

Firing a solid coach in favor of more flashy hires was a really bad move for Ole Miss when the fired Cutcliffe IMO and I think Tenn would suffer a similar fate.

You can't really compare this to Ole Miss firing Cutcliffe. DC had some success at Ole Miss before he was fired.
