I originally started this thread to keep track of the local Knoxville craft beer scene on the UT board. It's ended up evolving into a little more than that. I thought I would share with anyone planning on making t trip to Knoxville in the near future. I'll bump this thread again during football season, but just thought I'd share.

Right now downtown is in a much needed renaissance period and really starting to come back to life. With that said, here's some of the local watering holes and hotels to check out when in town. Once we get closer to football season kicking off I'll make a map of downtown and highlight how to get to the different districts and which areas are best to hit.

I lived in Knoxville for a year while investigating bank fraud by the Butcher brothers and their friends. Knoxville is absolutely beautiful if you like mountains and winding roads. For optimal fun, a sports car or motorcycle is recommended.

We're in the process of adding a new district downtown, across the river as well. This is just a section of what's coming. It should be similar to what Chattanooga has with their river walk downtown. Which I think is great.

They're bringing in bars, restaurants, student housing for the trust fund kids, retail and luxury condos and hotels basically across from Neyland on the other side of the river. So that should really add to the experience for guests once it's complete. It will probably be another 3-4 years before we really start to see any results, but I'm happy that we've started and have a mayor with a vision for the city.

Just moved up to Knoxville four months ago for work. I'm from Southeast Alabama. I absolutely love Knoxville. The city is great. It is the perfect mix of downtown activities and countless outdoor destinations and activities. I will always miss my home state and I always wanted to live in T-town, but after my first few months in Knoxville, I can definitely see myself settling down here.

Kilgus, if you ever have any questions about the area let us know. There are a few of us on here that live in the city or surrounding area.

As a student at UT, I've always been surprised at the amount of Alabama stickers I see on cars. It's not much, but more than you would think.

It goes in waves it seems like. It was UF for a long time when Alabama was in their lost in the woods phase and we won like 11 games in a 14 year span(something like that). Then Saban got to Alabama and won big and over night the band wagon got pretty big. There's definitely a decent amount of UF, Bama and UK basketball fans.

I think it'd be awesome to do a series of these leading up to football season.

It helps posters/lurkers who plan on taking road trips across the SEC.
