I could see Lane Kiffin taking the job and I could see Ole Miss giving it to him. He did a helluva job with an overmatched UT team. He just needs to learn to keep his mouth shut. I think he's a realistic one to watch. Most of the other names, not so much.

At this point miles would crawl over broken glass for the ole miss job. Poor guy couldn't even get the Houston job.

In the best of circumstances, Ole Miss is not a good job. No big name/hot prospect is taking that job. In the last 30 years how many HCs at Ole Miss left for a better job vs getting fired? Tubbs is it, right? So it's not even an attractive stepping stone job. Now with nuclear winter looming, forget it.

Somewhere in Mississippi, there's a school janitor who would be perfect for the OM HC job.

Les miles at 8/1 is hilarious. There is 0% chance he'd walk into that dumpster fire right now

I read he has inquired about two jobs and told no thanks already. Western Michigan I think, and another that wasn't a high profile program. No one wants him

Frank Wilson may not be at the top of their list but I bet he gets a call.

Only "name-brand" coach who would take it right now.

Yeah, that's what OM should do, hire a controversial coach with a history of shady recruiting tactics and marital infidelity, right after getting hammered by the NCAA and having their head coach resign for moral turpitude related to prostitution.

I'll go with the field.

Vegas odds makers, like many here, and discounting the situation with the NCAA. Ole Miss, post sanctions, will be in between Bama in 2003 and SMU in 1989 - they will find themselves forced to hire a loyal alum like Mike Shula or Forrest Gregg. If not for his apparent involvement in the current NCAA scandal, I'd say Luke would be the guy, but I would be surprised if they didn't run him off after the season is over.

So the question is, who is out there who is completely loyal to Ole Miss, is at least marginally qualified, and free from any potential guilt-by-association with the two most recent regimes?

Les Miles or Lane Kiffin would be the best choices, but not sure either would take it right now, but it might be a bad decision not to take it. Franchione took the job at Alabama, and then UA was hit harder than expected, so he split the scene, which was a huge mistake for him. He should have weathered the storm. No, Ole Miss isn't Alabama, but with the right coach, they can be a good program.

This. It's a shame Dooley was such a bad coach. Dude cracked me the hell up when he was at Tenn.

Ole Miss will not make a move until the NCAA sanctions hit.

No hard charging coach would take the chance at this point.

Prayers for Matt Luke.

Dooley, what does he do now? Whatever it is, is where he will stay.

Matt Luke has a better chance than several of those guys, and he hasn't HC'd a single game yet.

We would be following your lead Southofhere when you'll hired Croom to ease the NCAA penalties. I would rather offer Stanfords coach 15 million a year

Won't be any of those guys.
It's Ole Miss.
They'll end up with an unheard of assistant, and they'll be lucky to get him.
