I don't get this. Vandy is smart enough to know visiting fans will pack the stadium for the game. I think it's a genius move to have that large a stadium for them.

The best deal in college football tickets anywhere is the Vandy "family pack" season tickets.

Two adult and two youth tickets, 8 games, about $300 (or that's what it was a few years ago). I'd go to the Bama game, sell the other SEC games on eBay, and donate the rest to charity for atax deduction.

The thing about Vandy's stadium is that it is so small, there is not really a bad seat in the house. Quick and easy to get to when traveling, and plenty of parking. The worst part is the concourses and bathrooms/concessions which are woefully undersized.

It's sad how little their students care

i was partying in downtown nashville last year when ole miss came to play vandy. ran into some vandy students and their parents and asked them how the game was going (vandy won, i believe) and not one of the students or parents even knew vandy had a football game that day, much less who they were playing. i guess its safe to say that the football team has not endeared themselves to the university yet.

.... They played at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis too, but it was on a temporary basis.

It's not like the had another option in the area until LP got finished.

I know. But the point is that the NFL let them play there. They could've made them stay year 2 in Memphis until Adelphia or whatever it's called was completed

Vandy's Stadium

Is an absolute piece of shite - and I'm not even referring to its size.

This past year, the lights in the section I was sitting in went out completely and never came back on. There were these awesome shadows all over that part of the field. They do not show instant replays on the 46 inch Daewoo they use as their main teletron. Their football stadium shares concessions with the baseball stadium. On top of that, their fans are always outnumbered by the opposing team; and the ones that do show up barely cheer at all.

It's a sad place.

Nashville isn't Southeast. No matter how you try to describe it.

Wow. Stupid post is stupid. Go learn your history, you ignorant rantard. Regardless of how infiltrated the city and area has become, it is still a southern city and a southern state.

And to hear this from a Texan..... should give those Tennesseans a big frickin thanks. Without Tennesseans, you'd be speaking Spanish under the Mexican flag. Go sit down and dwell on that for a while.

When Franklin negotiated his new contract got them to commit to renovating stadium. I don't know if they will increase capacity but have committed big bucks. Story goes that at last year's Wake game, influential alums were impressed with the quality of Wake's similar sized but modernized stadium. Franklin also got a commitment for new indoor practice facility.

Vanderbilt's undergrad enrollment is only 6,000, probably a better number to look at when comparing student sections for athletic events.

If every student attends it would only fill 14% of the stadium. Meanwhile Florida has 32,000 undergrads for an 88,000 seat stadium, or 36%. Based on student body and alumni #'s it would appear that Vanderbilt's stadium is oversized.

To put it another way: If Vanderbilt graduates 1000-1500 students a year, it would take up to 35 years to fill the rest of the stadium if all alums could attend. At Florida it would take roughly a decade.
