Vanderbilt, because Vanderbilt is a much, MUCH better school than Tulane.

Yup.

I briefly looked at Tulane's law school mostly as a fun trip to New Orleans but I gave it a shot.

First thing I saw when I got there was a drunk law student passed out on the lawn.

And who the hell wants to learn a bunch of Napoleonic Code-based crap that's worthless in the other 49 states?

I'd be passed out on the lawn too.

They're all at work interviewing replacements for their Tennessee employees that took off work just to watch football

Vandy just started an accounting program. Are they going to get paid more by a Big 4 firm right out of college than say a UT accounting grad? Where's the difference in value come into play here at that initial job offer? Same goes for nursing or education, journalism, etc. I'm still failing to see different in value here.

Sure, there is some difference as someone with a Vandy degree would have a better shot at getting into investment banking than someone with a Tennessee degree but it's not always the case.

I've read some Louisiana law books before and it gave me a damn headache.

Just stop brah. Your school is shite compared to VU. Accept that part of life and move on.

My freshman year at Vandy we had one guy on our hall who was drunk 24/7 and flunked out of Vandy after one year.

He wound up enrolled at UT in Knoxville immediately thereafter.

Tulane's administration has failed to add majors in high demand and appoint the right leaders for fields they have that do. It still has an elite med school, but their business and law schools have slipped. In fact LSU has consistently beaten them in BAR passage over the last few years. Also their engineering program is pretty weak for private school standards, and that's one of the last great majors that's even in high demand

It's still an incredibly popular destination for obvious reasons. In fact a few years ago it received more applicants than any other school in the country. Just my opinion but if you're going to drop that much money, you go to Vandy, SMU, Sewanee, Rhodes, etc before Tulane

If they did, then they would have about 20,000 people more than their stadium holds.

Sorry, this isn't remotely true. Vandy and UT fans at my work are on all of the same levels and get paid the same except for the UT grad who owns the company. Difference is people that went to UT spent about 1/5th less than the people that went to Vandy to get their undergrad degree to get the same job.
Yehhh, ok

Auburn and LSU are so high due to the engineering factor. More students getting engineering degrees and less getting worthless degrees. I wouldnt say LSU or Auburn is any better than Bama academically

Someone needs to tell E&Y, KPMG and PwC to pay the Vandy grads more money just because they went to Vandy.

You are such a dumbass I am a CPA, and sure, UT and LSU fans can get hired with a Big 4 firms and earn the same as a Vandy grad. However, what we cant do with our CPA license, is get on with the top investment banking firms or private equity firms in the market. That is why Vandy kicks our degrees arse

There are always some individual programs where a particular school will shine. If I had wanted to be a journalist, I would have of course stayed in town and gone to Mizzou rather than Vandy.

But this thread wasn't strictly CPA program smack last I'd checked. It was about broad generalizations concerning "Vandy grads" and "Tennessee grads." And broadly speaking, UT is the suck.

What are you on about? No one said smart people can't go to UT. It's a general statement that applies to the average graduate and their situation. Your feathers are much too ruffled.

Im a CPA. And a CPA with a Vandy degree opens many more doors than a CPA with an LSU or UT degree

Honestly, I don't think it's even the degree is seen as better. This summer, 13 Vanderbilt football players (I believe that it was just football), had internships. Guess who goes to Vanderbilt for their interns? Lots of top companies in whatever field the company is in. That's the real value of the Vandy degree.
