How does the Vandy Athletic Dept work now that they went back to the University control?
Who is in the decision process and can fund a multi million $ raise for a coach?

Since it's a private school, we have no idea how much he makes now, but that number has been rumored to be around $3 million with a $20+ million buyout. We actually have an athletic director, but his purview is still not autonomous from the rest of the campus life departments. So David Williams has come out and said that he'll increase the contract based on performance so that Franklin will stay and be happy. We have the second largest athletic endowment in the SEC; we just haven't had to spend it on anything

One of my Engineers went there and he seems to think that the powers that be will not allow all that it would take to have a SEC football team like LSU or Bama, but they hope they can get enough MO to get a team like Stanford. Which I think is a reality.

We don't really have enough in-state recruits to reach that level, but Franklin hopes to be competitive. Those schools get half of their talent or more from their area. Tennessee doesn't get the same level, but the administration seems to have finally acknowledged the ability for a successful football team to help in endowment.
