We're the private institution in this conference. You are welcome.

At this point I don't think we even need to fall back on the "we're the private school with awesome academics" excuse. We just won a national championship, followed it up with a championship appearance ( ), and are recruiting better in baseball than pretty much any other team. No, the SEC isn't known as a baseball conference and college baseball isn't even a really high profile sport, but the program that Tim Corbin has built is still impressive.

Now, let's take it another step. Basketball. We're going to be extremely good this year. The basketball program generally has been relatively successful, anyway. So we suck at football without James Franklin, sorry. It's not everything. Besides, we're the private school with awesome academics.

As a side note, it would take the SEC-hate off the deep end if it kicked out a founding member who, for better or worse, is generally looked at as the best school academically. It would also **** us over royally not only because of lost revenue, but because "Top 20 university that's also in the SEC" is a damn good selling point.

Say what you want but that offense they put on the field last night was -with very, very few exceptions- pathetic.

The real problem with Vandy, is they are not investing properly. As in with the needed number of Bagman to compete with the Bama's and Auburns.

Their problem is that they have all these East Coast, shall me say non Christian alums, who are not properly funding their football efforts like Ole Yella, or the REC, but putting all their hedge fund profits into crap like academics and bullshite like that.

We can't remove them, but there should be a real discussion about slashing their portion of the revenue until they start putting even minimal effort into giving us something back.

Can you tell me what about Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Florida, LSU, and Alabama have in common?

All have fewer bowl wins than Vandy since the conference expanded in 2012.

For that matter Kentucky, Arkansas, and Tennessee all have fewer GAME wins (both in conference and overall) than Vandy since the 2012 conference expansion.

Now, what were you saying about not giving anything back?

Vanderbilt's value lies in it being the only private institution in the conference. The conference catches enormous breaks in terms of public records by having Vandy. They aren't going anywhere.

Coming from an ole miss fan haha.. You beat us into the ground last year and we haven't been good, but you contributed nothing other than a piss poor showing and bowl loss last year. Good Job!

Honestly Vanderbilt got hosed by Franklin on his way out the door. Trust me, Arkansas knows this all to well right now. Sometimes a great, but sociopathic, coach leaves the pantry bare when they leave.

Is the program in great shape right now? Well the defense looked better but they have some issues to solve on offense. It will take another year at least. I say that with the caveat of I don't think Mason is a bad head coach.

He got left holding the poo-poo platter so he looks a lot worse then he actually is. Vanderbilt needs to anchor down right now and hold the course. This will probably be another rough year but with decent QB play then the team we saw last night could sneak up on someone looking ahead.

Sometimes what you need is patience.

Once they do 16 teams 8 conferences we will see major shuffling I see Vandy,Kentucky going to Big Ten and Ole Miss,Miss St,Missouri going to Big 12.South Carolina to ACC. Only for football, they stay sec for the other sports.I see the 16 team sec as (all for tv ratings)

Alabama
Auburn
Arkansas
Clemson
Florida
Florida St
Georgia
Georgia Tech
LSU
Miami
Oklahoma
Texas
Texas A & M
Tennessee
Virgina Tech
West Virgina

You think anyone is going to leave the SEC, much less charter members?

And wait, you also think Vandy would go B1G for football but stay SEC for other sports?

this would hurt college football, too many good programs in the same conference. it would lead to good teams from the SEC not getting into the playoffs due to the tough schedule or 3 or 4 SEC teams making the playoffs, which would kill interest in football in other parts of the country if it happened a lot.

I think the power 5 are fairly equal to each other right now and a team that wins any of these conferences has a solid shot to make the playoffs.

1. You are stupid.

2. Vanderbilt is above average to good at a lot of sports, just not football. Also the most academically rigorous. Baseball is awesome, Basketball is above average. They have also invested a lot. Need examples?

New indoor football practice facility

Improvements baseball stadium

Redid the football locker rooms which look awesome
