Who would you rather see get 20 carries per game? I thought Kamara looked much better on Saturday. Hurd seems like he hasn't really gotten better since his freshman year - not a bad back by any means, but he just doesn't seem to have the it factor.

Also great game. It is always interesting when we play, no matter the rankings.

Not a Vol but I'm starting to get the impression that Hurd is trying to get to the NFL without getting hurt. He's not playing anything like he did last year.

Wish Kamara could've stayed at Bama.

Hurd. I think Kamara would be a pretty good college running back if he was a featured back, but I need to see him do something against a quality opponent. Which might not be fair considering his lack of touches.

Either way few running backs could put up great numbers with the oline we have had for the last few years.

Not a Vol fan either, but Hurd is extraordinarily soft for his size and goes down way too easy on first contact or when arm tackled. And our line sucks too, yet Rawleigh Williams is the second leading rusher in the SEC right now.

It's laughable when people say that Hurd would be so good in an offense ours or Alabama's because he's not a power runner. He is good at catching balls out of the backfield, but he's basically a glorified tight end at this point.

Where is he projected to get drafted? I don't think he has shown enough to warrant even a 3rd round selection. I could see a guaranteed first or second round pick playing it safe.

ESPN calling - they want you as their next CFB analyst. Dude, you have just proven you don't know what in the hell you're talking about.

I woudl take hurd.

Both are very good, but there are backs like Kamara on just about every SEC roster. Phsyical, punishing runners like Hurd are a little harder to come by.

Part of the reason for his diminished production this year is the fact that we have been playing from behind in 4 out of 5 games, and he is the type of back that should be stronger in the 2nd half. We've had to pass more than we've wanted to. Our offensive line was also absolutely abysmal for the first 3 games. Coleman Thomas was getting obliterated on every snap, I've never seen anything like it.

We need to learn how to get an early lead, and then let Hurd impose his will in the 2nd half. Especially these next 2 games, we cannot afford to sleep walk in the first half like we have in the last 5 games.

I wouldn't go so far as calling him soft, but after the game I checked his stats and was amazed to see that he's 6'4" 240. Averaging 4 ypc in college at that size just doesn't scream NFL talent to me.

It would be different if he had crazy vision or something but I didn't see it at all vs us. It seemed like Kamara was just better all around, but it was just one game so I realize it might not extrapolate.

Guess you didn't see him carry 6 guys 5 yards against Florida.

Honestly, this scheme is such a bad fit for him imo. This offense is much better suited for slashing type running backs with outstanding acceleration like Kamara for example. I love Hurd but he could have been better elsewhere imo

I agree...if you were old school and running an I formation offense (giving him a head of steam before he hits the line) he would be a nightmare to stop. Kamara is a better fit for this offense.

Hurd will get you the tough yards, but don't break many for big gains.

Kamara can break the big one if you give him a sliver of daylight but not so much with the 3rd and 3, but he is lethal as a receiver out of the backfield.
