Mainly because it's true in most cases.

A big number of big name NBA players are whiny, ie James, Griffin, Paul, etc.

to be fair, Hockey fans in the sunny south are like American soccer fans in the 1990s. It's not popular, they know their following a good sport and the idea of some people not giving a single frick will piss anyone off. What's more they know their sport is worshiped in other parts of the world so anyone not even caring is almost like an insult.

it's enough to jade anyone.

Why do soccer fans exist?

You're a hockey fan, can you really talk smack when you're a backer of a sport 90% of America has never even tried to play. At least kids play soccer, who plays Hockey outside of Yankee's and rich people.

And I say that as someone who enjoys that occasional hockey game. And played a lot of street hockey growing up, not Ice because again Ice Hockey isn't played by all that many people.

By everyone else, sure, but not to the individual fan bases

The meaning of winning a NC back in the 80s isn't nearly as meaningful to a fanbase as a WC is to a fanbase. Not down playing a national championship, but you can still throw a WC in another countries face many years after it happened.

World Cup

SC hasn't won a national title in the last 122 years not like I can't wait some more years for one. Plus we need to worry about the SECCG first.

I will say this. Soccer players are giant babies, especially the good ones.

Clint Dempsey and the retired Brian McBride... and really all Americans are an anomaly on the world stage. They don't understand why our guys don't sulk around trying to draw the ref into cards but instead try to soldier on.

Who plays soccer outside of kids under 14 and developing countries who still live in huts?

One of our local sports guys compared being in the bar for the US-Ghana game to being at a LSU home game. I almost fell out my chair laughing
I take it you didn't go out to the bars yesterday for the game.

Hell, this was in Birmingham. LINK

This was my answer as a Florida fan as well-- I think its different if you're a fan of a team that doesn't win national titles often/ever-- if you're a Georgia or Ole Miss fan its a whole different thing than an Alabama, Florida or LSU fan.
really? im a laker fan and I would rather see them win again over the US winning the world cup. just my opinion

Damn, guess all those college soccer players should give up their scholarships and go home.

The whole argument just has flaws in it. Guys play through injuries all the damn time in the NBA and in soccer.

It is just a dumb argument that seems to make them feel better about themselves for some reason.

Brag about how much more exciting the game has gotten in recent years or how overtime playoff hockey may be the most enjoyable thing in sports right now.

Lololol. Yeah man he got me so good.

I had no idea it was big in Europe. I certainly never saw a single jersey while I was there.

Idiot.
