That's how it works. The evolution looks something like this:
"Texas A&M is a bottom-feeder that will be demolished in the SEC."
"Manziel is an unproven freshman who will never compete against SEC defenses."
"He's won a few games, but he'll never beat a top team."
"Well they won't go to a bowl."
"They're going to get killed in their bowl game."

"They've lost their entire team in Swope and Joeckel--they'll be lucky to win a couple of games."
