I was up in Ohio last week. I saw so many Ohio State fans wearing "Urban Renewal," t-shirts. The OSU fans were talking a lot of shite about how they are going to win the National Championship this year. I told them, "well with that cupcake of a schedule you should at least make it to the NC." I love it how now that Urban is out of the SEC he is badmouthing our conference. It didn't seem so bad when he was in this conference?

That fanbase is insufferable. They were worse than Texas and Auburn all rolled up in one.

Doc Ellis - good post.

That is what makes me wonder why the media and Fla. didn't give him the Manti Teo treatment. ?? He just glided through like a rose.

Now, I'm not sure I'd go quite THAT far.

But they're in my top 4 worst fanbases, along with Notre Dame, Texas, West Virginia and USC west.

Texas and tOSU tends to make everyone's list. I personally like WVU. USCw only come out to play every so often.

I've been on Hineygate a lot & 1 thing is for sure. The OSU fans have given up the holier than thou pretense & attitude that permeates the B1G & have decided to get down in the "mud" with the SEC... It makes for some great & funny reading if you get a chance to read it...

I have a couple of transplant tOSU fans in my life right now for some reason and they just seem to get pissed off when we talk football. I told them that the NCAA wasn't going to hammer Oregon and that the Dontre Wilson flip wasn't that big of a deal and they just seemed to roll their eyes like I don't know what the frick I am talking about. So, maybe you just had to be in Ohio for the hollier than though attitude to wear off.

You must not be married. I’m not condoning infidelity, don’t get me wrong, but the grass is always greener on the other side.

This is hypothetical, but as long as this supposed coed is somehow attractive is perfectly “understandable”, in a pure hormonal sense.

Bisonduck...the NCAA infractions thing is definitely a sore subject here. I think tOSU and USCw deserved everything they got and nobody's debating that but there was no consistency with Oregon. Chip Kelly knowingly violated the rules in a big way but was given a slap on the wrist and only 18 months show cause. 3 yrs probation, 1 scholly per yr and no bowl ban is a joke. It is what it is and we move on but it defies logic IMO.

These were certainly the facts. Putting the merit of your assertions aside, nothing indicated that Oregon was going to get a bowl ban. The transplants that I was talking about were saying on your premium chat boards that there was rumor and innuendo that a bowl ban was probable. I laughed it off saying that you can pull the public document dumps that included a summary disposition. That was never on the table. I just got some smug response that I was full of shite. Message board rumor and innuendo vs. reading the summary disposition...you tell me?

I hear ya. We were on the flip side of that. All indications pointed to no bowl ban but it happened. I'm not an attorney but from the outside looking in it sure appeared that Oregon's infractions were as serious if not worse than tOSU's. But then again we don't have Phil Knight to keep happy. It just doesn't add up.

This is funny in a tinfoil hat kinda way. The fact that it sounds semi serious is the problem. Seriously, yesterday a texas db committed to Oregon and the texas boards were littered with Phil Knight innuendo and the kid said that he wanted to go out of state from the beginning and wanted to be apart of something new. OMG a kid wants to play out of state - it can't be true! It also make more sense to me that Chip was more naive than willful in breaking the rules. Also, what saved Oregon's bacon was corrective action, which was nonexistent in the USC and tOSU cases.

When it comes to football there are only 2 in my book

#1 Ohio State
#2 Southern Cal

Not only are they arrogant but they act like the Rose Bowl is the best game even tho they stopped letting the SEC play there after WW II because the SEC kept winning. Now that the BCS is going it shows just what a sham the Rose Bowl was all those years. Couple that with major cheating while accusing everybody else of cheating just put them over the top.

Texas may have been a bully and a cheater but at least they were open and up front about it. When I think of the Irish you get visions of Beano Cook and Regis who are just as lost as a player with an invisible girlfriend. I just think they are sad.

Fair enough, but to say Chip Kelly was naive is naive of you to say. He knew perfectly well what he was doing and is the reason why he bolted for the NFL. 18 month show cause is a joke considering that he has no intentions of returning to college before then.

That's not what I said. I didn't say he was naïve I said he was more naïve than willful. Every school used Lyles the same way and Chip got caught swimming in the deep end when he should've been in the shallow end after being an FCS coordinator just two years prior.

I mean...Bruce Pearl got fired for lying about a barbecue and got a 3 year show cause.

The NCAA is inconsistent; I think that's what bothers so many.
