I do, but it's also legal in my state (I also have a CCP if it wasn't). In Nevada, it will depend on where the gun was in the car to determine if it was illegal or not. But you're right, him having a loaded gun is irrelevant to his other charges. A loaded gun doesn't enhance the charges like it could in other criminal matters. They might not even bother prosecuting it, and even if they do, it would just run concurrent to the rest of his sentence.

They can tack on an illegal possession of a firearm charge. Some weird laws in Nevada. Looks like someone can't be charged with vehicular homicide unless they have 3 prior DUI convictions. Looks to me like the max sentence is 6 years for the Death caused by DUI with wanton disregard for others. That seems light. Minimum sentence is 2 years. The illegal possession of a firearm charge can get him 1-5 years. Seems screwed up that he could get as much time for having the gun as he could for the killing of the woman by his driving.

n what way does that matter? I bet half the people on this board regularly or know someone who regularly keeps a loaded gun in their car. Do I? no, but pretending its some further indicator that Ruggs is a bad person is unnecessary and untrue.

Because he said the story keeps getting worse and worse.

frick him, make the harshest example in this situation.

Whatever is passed down by the judge is what is passed down. Ruggs will have to serve his sentence. But God can redeem anyone. To say anything less is UnChristian.

Don't think that is correct. You can get vehicular homicide after 3 DUIs that will get you a minimum 25 years to life. So its an enhanced charge. DUI vehicular manslaughter still pulls 2-20 with no parole.

she was hit from behind, if she was wearing her seatbelt the crash didnt kill her.

At those speeds I seriously doubt she survives, even with a seatbelt. Best case scenario she's severely injured.

Even with a permit, most states have laws against possessing or carrying a firearm while intoxicated, but it is usually a misdemeanor

You're reading the wrong statute or misinterpreting what you're reading. DUI causing death is a class B felony with a minimum of 2 years and a max of 20. If you have had 3 prior DUI convictions, it is enhanced to vehicular homicide which carries a sentence of 25 to life with parole eligibility after 10, which is a class A felony.

Hopefully the poor girl died on impact or at least was knocked unconscious. The dog, I would assume, died on impact because it would have been loose in the vehicle and an impact at that speed would have killed the poor thing instantly.

As to Ruggs being fairly okay from the crash... way back in the day a drunk driver crossed the center line and hit a friend and I head on. If we had not been wearing our seat belts we would have died. My friend broke his leg from where his car crumpled into him. I broke my sternum (which I heartily do not recommend anyone ever do) from the seat belt. The two drunk guys walked away from the crash without a scratch on them. It just works out that way sometime.
