I was just stating some 4 seeds do have a good to great pitcher and you have to be careful in some instances.

In the Houston regional I fully expect UH to use their ace (big drop off after him) because Iowa has a team full of mashers including Jake Adams who has 27(!) home runs.

Of course they could start Kiel if they REALLY wanted this to be a drawn-out, competitive regional

Some coaches believe that winning game 1 is important enough to use your ace.

Match ups can play a factor as well.
Depending on the opponents batters, your #2 or 3 pitcher may be a better matchup in a single individual game.

Yea I am really hoping that LSU will throw Poche on Friday

That ain't going to happen. Especially against Texas Southern

I find it funny that LSU fans thought throwing Hjelle the first game was laughable. Ohio has one of the best fielding stats and put their ace on the bump today.

I don't blame U.K. For the decision, because I get it, but Game2 winner's bracket game is the money game in a regional (and in Omaha fwiw). 1 and 2 seeds will consistently win more regionals if they approach regionals that way each year. 3-4 seeds don't have that luxury, but 1-2 seeds should definitely be doing that.

Win the 1-0 game to go to 2-0 and you can pretty much pencil yourself in the Supers (or in the championship series in the case of the CWS).

I know it goes without saying, but that game is soooo important, so it makes sense why most upper seeds hold their ace for game2
