"I guess I just felt like Georgia thought they had me in the bag, and they didn't even know about me and I was in their backyard," Berry explains. "I remember when I went on my recruiting visit, coach (Mark) Richt had my name and stats written on his hand. I guess he thought I didn't see it or something, but I did.

"They were talking to me about playing wide receiver; they didn't even know my position was safety and quarterback. That really made me upset. Coach Kiffin (who then was at Southern Cal), he came with Pete Carroll and the running backs coach and they knew all about me. And I was in Georgia's backyard.

I'm not trying to flame, but that's kinda sad.

UGA pretty much knew they had no shot @ Berry. Imagine the scenario in reverse. UT trying to recruit Herschel's kid...

Maybe. But if what he says is true, you have to be discouraged with the effort put out by the UGA staff.

It definately could've been because they felt they had no shot, I just found it a bit strange.

Pretty sure that's bullshite. Mark Richt knows the names of the top recruits in the state...

I don't doubt he had the stats written on his hand (what coach memorizes HS kids stats?)...I don't doubt he had the name beside it...but I'm positive he knew Who Berry was before he met with him.

The entire thing sounds like a kid trying to justify why he made the wrong choice out of HS.

I think UGA's recruiting results speak for itself. I don't think a lack of effort could categorize Mark Richt...and I'm not even a leghumper fan.

Then why is he justifying his reasons for not going to UGA 4 years later?

Berry will end his time at UT without a win over UGA. Without a major bowl game.

Good luck to him, he's a helluva player.

no..

Forgot he was there in 2007.

Like I said, good luck to him. He's a great talent.

Have you read about Marlon Brown recruitment? Does Ogre always cuss like a sailor in front of women?

I think the fact that Mark Richt took the best 2 players in your state last year shows he puts in plenty of effort in recruiting.

lol, getting defensive. I just wanted your alls take on it.

I would argue Marlon Brown was never coming here after Fulmer was fired.
I don't even remember what other player you all got to be honest.

He was pretty pissed about the way your coaches acted around his Grandmom (cussing) and his negative recruiting (specifically badmouthing Richt and UGA).

I don't remember any of this ever being proven or anything just a bunch of rumors.

We do need OL.

UGA will be fine and we'll be fine, I was just curious.

If you carefully rearrange the letters of
“It's football time in tennessee” and add just a couple of other letters it reads:

Eat Sheet and Die you backwoods trailer-trash, sheep humpin, sister boinking, inbred cretin arse-clowns.

I'm not trying to flame, but that's kinda sad.
