Didn't that kid have major ties to Nebraska via family? You're not going to win every recruiting battle. What was Herbie's involvement though?

Whats the full story? It doesn't make sense why a broadcaster would get involved in recruiting situations.

Either way, the kid would have never have made it at Georgia.

Raiola's father Dominic:
[i]"I'll bring up one guys name, his name is Kirk Herbstreit. When he saw the smoke about Dylan entertaining Nebraska, he was like call me, he was like 'Dude if this is true, he's gotta do it.' His affinity for Nebraska, for a guy like that to tell me and get behind me, you know I knew he needed to do it, but I wasn't going to sit here and say you need to go change that place or be a part of the change of that place. So when Kirk told me that, you know I was like man, I had other coaches reach and say the place is special and coach Rhule is a special leader."

I was confused but not upset when he flipped to Nebraska, we had Carson coming back and another top 10 QB coming in (Puglisi) so it was meh. Knowing Herbstriet involved himself in that flip pisses me off much more. Who does he think he is? He needs to be fired. You can't be a "journalist" on a particular beat and then get involved with the intricacies of that beat. Imagine if the shoe was on the other foot, and UGA was trying to flip a recruit from another school, and a UGA-beat reporter called his dad to sell him on UGA. That would be embarrassing and probably end his career.

Isn't it against some kind of rules to interfere?

This is the guy pushing AGAINST FSU BEFORE the qb injury...& Rose Bowl as the CFPO CG location.

Always felt he was a B1G homer.

I talked with Ryan Puglisi at the Red and Black Rally where I got some insight on the QB situation at the moment.

Raiola was simply not interested in sitting out most of next season while Puglisi is expecting to play some, but more importantly, to learn the system and work on further developing his skills.

Puglisi is embracing the competition while Raiola seems to not want to deal with any serious competition.

Meanwhile, look for Nitro and to be the next Ladd.

Ya, he was pretty silently committed to nebraska for a long time as well before going public with ohio state, then decommitted from ohio.

It really wasnt surprising to see him sign with Nebraska if you followed his recruitment.

I don’t think UGA will miss Raiola that bad, but this is completely inappropriate for Herbstreit.

ETA: He’s effectively trying to insert himself into the competitive landscape and alter one program’s prospective outcome at the expense of another.

Raiola is a quality QB but there was no guarantee offered.

In contrast, Nebraska gave him assurances and $$.

So his family uprooting themselves to move to a town 30 minutes away from Athens right after he committed to UGA never had you believing he was going to sign with UGA?
