From the spring game the way he reads the field is unbelievable.

it's hard to ascertain much from a practice considering he was going against his own teammates (many of them not starters) in an exhibition.

BUT, some of the throws he made were simply incredible whether it was a practice or not. That first long throw he made to Ridley over his shoulder is a pass that lambert couldn't complete if his life depended on it. Not just the placement, any college QB can throw to a spot, but the frickin ZIP on it adn the angle to get it to that spot not only quickly but to where only ridley could get it. Those are the throws you look back at years later and say "yeah, we could see it already right there"

I just looked at the box score. Even more impressive is that we didnt' do anything on teh ground, remember that was the year Gurley tore his ankle up against LSU and missed several games and was still not acting like his usual self at that point. wE only rushed for 117 total yards that day, and 37 of them were from murray.

What is different is he is coming with a totally new staff so everyone is learning at the same time. Think Eason is the guy from day one....

I think smart will follow the alabama template: quick game (which typically revolves around one pre-snap and then one post snap read), and pound and play-action. Pounding forces one high or no high looks. This simplifies the passing game into three scenarios: 1. 1v1 matchups vs man, 2. extremely simple reads vs cover 3, or 3. A matchup zone where safeties are dually responsible for primary run support and deep coverage (hello play-action post).

They certainly have the run game for it. The only real question is does Eason have the accuracy for it. If so, he'd have a good year with little real burden. They would still need to carry a couple of downfield 3rd-10 chain-mover concepts but there's a big difference between needing them twice a game and needing 12 times a game.
