They are unless they think your tradition is gay. We learned that firsthand.

Printz is likely gone for sure. Mauk would leave to if he gets passed up. Hopefully Zanders would stay, but who knows.
Tend to agree that's why I really would hope we find some ways to get Zanders on the field in creative packages or something this year, he seems like the sort of prospect who would be willing to stay if he knows he's gonna get SEC playing time somewhere on the field. Then again, he has to have seen how young we are at receiver and still he has chosen to tough it out in this four way QB competition, so maybe that's all he's ever gonna be.
I have a feeling Mauk-Lock next year may have Tiger fans seething in terms of what Pinkel decides to do. Mauk will always be a Farve type gambler who has us pulling his hair out but he's also a gamer who isn't going to give up that spot willingly as a senior at all.

I know you said "at least", which could mean a lot more than just 1, but if they're only goign to play him very sparingly is it even worth burning the shirt?
Pinkel tends to break in the next QB in this fashion. I would not be shocked if Lock is the starter next year, maybe even later this season.

Good. I want our QBs to be full of fire and competition.
I've read some of Mauk's recent quotes regarding Lock, and even Mauk seems in awe of Lock's talent. There might be a point when Mauk simply admits that Lock is better, even though Mauk is really good.
The backup QB is only one play away from being the starting QB. Mizzou has played twice in the SEC championship game, which is the biggest stage other than the national championship game.
Why would Mauk leave even if he finds himself at number 2?

So he can go start somewhere. He'll graduate this year and will be able to transfer without sitting out.

Mauk graduates this year?

Does anyone think that Pinkel isn't messing around, wants to get over the hump in regards to a conference championship (and perhaps national championship), and has made it clear that he'll play the best QB.
Perhaps we're witnessing a real QB competition for a change.

He redshirted as a frosh, so assuming he's been doing some studying and not spending every night drunkenly tooling around on a scooter with two women on his back (that's a big if with Mauk) he would certainly have the chance to graduate this year.
Realistically, he strikes me as a five or six years to graduate kinda guy as far as college students go.

Yeah its called TRADITION. Thought the SEC was supposed to be big on that.
I may be wrong but I see no SEC team giving up seating and $ for tradition

You're right and we don't. People still sit there both on the grass and, for sellouts, on the rocks themselves. And they have to buy tickets in order to get in and sit there.
See all those people? Somewhere beneath that sea of humanity in the endzone is the grass hill and the rock M.

From what they said in the thread last night he was only there 3 years, redshirt or not, so why not dress him I guess.

I hope so. If this is the case we really are in some great shape. I completely agree about Pinkel. He has to be hungry for a conference championship.

Think about Pinkel's mindset. He's the most successful Mizzou coach ever, yet he's never won a conference championship and he's had four attempts in the past 10 years.
Mizzou is about to undergo another massive stadium renovation simply due to Pinkel's request. When he retires the stadium or something around there will be named after him. Hell, he may even get a statue. Who knows?
If I were Pinkel, I wouldn't want to retire until after I won at least a conference championship because no conference championship greatly tarnishes his future legacy.
Actually, Pinkel has won a national championship before. He won one while at Washington as the offensive coordinator under Coach Don James.
Therefore, he has championship experience. I would imagine he desires another go at a national championship. He's been there before. There's no reason to believe that he cannot accomplish it as head coach.
He just needs to play the best people.
It appears that Lock is the best, Pinkel recognizes that, and he has Mauk on a very short leash.

We still need to see the cat play a down of college football though. As of right now, it appears to Pinkel and his staff that Lock is the second best, and that Mauk is the best. Because to your point, if Lock was judged to be better right now he'd be the #1 now.
See RS freshman Brad Smith unseating incumbent senior QB Kirk Farmer back in 2002. Pinkel don't care. Pinkel don't give a shite. If you're better, you'll play. That's how Honey Badger Pinkel rolls.
All that said, Lock is certainly on a fast track as a true freshman. Which just means the hype was apparently (apparently, mind you) warranted. He was the same calibre of recruit as the UCLA true frosh QB who is starting from day one.
