I don't think he will play much this year.

If he does, he starts next year.

So he's not taking a redshirt? They must expect him to get some playing time.

Rumor is that he will get at least one drive per game.

If Mauktober gets too chilly, we'll warm it up with Locktober

I really look forward to seeing what he produces. It's not all that often a true freshman gets the nod, and I'd like to see him do well

I know you said "at least", which could mean a lot more than just 1, but if they're only goign to play him very sparingly is it even worth burning the shirt?

I questioned it as well, but I have to think that GP thinks there is a legitimate chance he overtakes Mauk at some point this year.

He's clearly better than our other two though, so maybe it's as simple as that. Hell, he very well may be better than Mauk right now.

Yes because he'll only be at Mizzou for 3 years. Kid is gonna go pro early (if he wants to)

We can't all be like ASU and never make it to a conference championship game.

The hype from the coaches and team is real. For what it's worth, in the 15+ years that Pinkel has been at Mizzou he's never seen a better QB in camp, and we're talking about a slew of great QBs that include Chase Daniel (Heisman finalist).

I think part of the staff's concern is that Lock is projecting as the type of QB who very well could turn pro early. If he's already beating out the other two backup QBs, no sense wasting one of the year's he's actually here with a redshirt if he's gonna be gone after a few years anyway.

It also is a nice gesture to our other two QBs in a way - Georgia native Eddie Printz and Florida native Marvin Zanders now have an extra year to look at the situation and decide if they want to come back and compete with Mauk and Lock again next year or if they'd rather transfer to another school where they might have a shot to start. Both Printz and Zanders have also looked really good in scrimmages.

I'm hoping we can find a way to get Zanders on the field at receiver or in wildcat packages or something. He's a speedster.

Printz is likely gone for sure. Mauk would leave too if he gets passed up. Hopefully Zanders would stay, but who knows.
