Here's the story of his coaching career:

1. Case Keenum
2. Johnny Manziel

2 of the best QB's in NCAA history. I wanna see him coach a team with no superstar QB

That's the whole point Sumlin just keeps plugging them in.

I'm willing to bet good money that I attended more UH games with Keenum at the helm than you did. Heck, I've probably been to more Texans games than you have.

Good coaches bring the best out of their star players.

Keenum and Manziel are nothing without Sumlin, as much as I love them both. And I'm not joking when I say that I've watched Keenum in person more than Manziel.

Texas A&M will have a very good QB next year. I like what I have seen out of Joeckel, assuming he is the guy in 2014.

Joeckel will be 3rd string behind Kenny Young and true freshman Kyle Allen

But props to Joeckel. He's graduated and will be in grad school.

You forgot Dana Holgorsen at Houston. He was the brains of that program. Sumlin has been lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.

If Sumlin's employers were willing to make the offer they made and to negotiate the contract as they did, (a) how is that "overpaying" him; and (b) why should anyone (outside of the respective parties) care?

Threads like this one are head-scratchers; but then again, I've never been one who gives much thought to other people's business.

Sumlin was 1-4 against ranked teams this past season...with a Heisman winner at QB.

I can think of a few fanbases that would melt down over that.

Sumlin took over a middling Big 12 team, joined the toughest division in all of football, and over the last two years has the same number of wins as Les Miles... who was coming off a natty game appearance, whose state supposedly has the best talent per capita in the history of the world, the greatest offensive coordinator to ever choose footbsll over curing cancer and a defense that can supposedly see no dropoff after watching 9 underclassmen leave early.

Won 8 games in season and took 3 miracles to beat Duke. Lol

Great idea for a thread. True, as far asi can tell so far.

No Manziel, not the same conversation. Period.

In a purely quantitative world yes but there are signs that support why things are the way they are. Plus in the world of A&M and money the price is nothing, negligible, nada, pocket change. We have two airports.
