In Texas honestly it's gonna be tough. Texas high school football is basketball on turf. Their defense will be cotton soft unless he heavily recruits out of state.

He'd be a star at Lsu imo. We aren't far from back at the top.

Big 12 is weak. Winning 8 games in that conference should be a given. The only strong opponent is Oklahoma. OSU is consistent but not stacked. And now Baylor is down.

I think he will do good at Texas and average 9/10 wins a year. He is a much better fit them Strong. Strong belongs in the south east.

i don't think the admin wanted to can strong. i think it was the boosters. in my opinion, the leak of lsu hiring herman was done by the boosters (red mccombs and company). it was done to gin up the texas fan base and make them upset they would lose herman to lsu and to push the admins to firing strong/hiring herman.

From the get go, Red made it clear that Charlie was not his choice. Red is one of those megaboosters there (name on the B school), and strikes me the way Hillary does Powell: Everything they touch they screw up with hubris.

He, Jamail, and several others make up a nest of whores and vipers that will keep that place dysfunctional for a while.

I fear him more than Orgeron for sure, but after the last few games I started saying to myself: He's not the monster I thought he was.

Thank God Jimbo is staying at FSU.

He's the one guy I didn't want LSU to get. He'll have Texas competing for Championships year in and year out. All this other stuff is just rationalization.

Why you like Jimbo staying at FSU? He owns the Gates!

OOC losses suck, but we would have a lot of trouble getting to Atlanta with Jimbo at LSU.

Some of you really are retarded.

while i agree it is dysfunctional in austin, i at least have respect that they ginned up enough support to try to get their football program back to relevancy. why a&m can't grow the balls to make changes that are clearly needed in the coaching department now-not next year-is beyond me. until there is accountability for what is put on the field, we won't be winning any championships.

3 days ago you thought he was the next Saban. That he was going to put fear in heads of all SEC fans. Now you're not sure.

Ladies and gentlemen, your typical LSU fan.

herman will do well at texas. he is another sumlin. the big 12 suits their coaching style. herman would not have done well in the sec and sumlin proved that. without a defense, texas won't do well at the national championship level.

Texas is a hard place to coach for the same reason the Dallas Cowboys is a hard place to coach.

Rich old white dude(s) wanting to micromanage the team.

I posted this comment earlier in another thread...

quote:

I saw a graphic (may have been ESPN) yesterday that showed Strong's team metrics vs Herman's team metrics this year and Strong had the superior numbers in everyone except defensive total yards allowed. Doesn't sound like UT had a QB or offensive problem. Not sure how Herman fixes his defense unless he makes a run at Aranda. If he doesn't fix it then he will go down just like Strong.

I agree with this. I think he has a better than 50% chance of being very successful. Glad he is not going to LSU.

I hope so. One thing Herman will have is a full cupboard. Our sophomore and freshman classes have talent at every level.
Big 12 is a total crapshoot. I'm not sure another school in our league really matches with us in terms of recruiting. No excuses but to win early and often.

He finished 4th in a non P5 conference. I don't exactly get the hype.
