I found it interesting that 3 teams out of the top 12 in recruiting since 2002 haven't played in a national championship game.

Meh, not really. Godchaux is really the only guy who has proven he is elite. And we lack depth.

There's 3 or 4 guys that will be 5th round picks or better, which is the criteria the article used. Our DL will be beastly with Coach O.

Well at least 2 of them have Conference or Division Championships to show for it.

I do think there's something to the idea of a relatively new coach who has injected an enthusiasm with a different scheme and approach can energize a program and help lift them a bit higher.

Is "Coach O" going to play? I like LSU and follow them but delusion is unusually commonplace around the fan base here this year.
Truth is, LSU DL was pushed around like they were lightweights last year, even by Notre Dame. The DEs are highly suspect, there doesn't seem to be much depth, and at this point, only one of those DL players is projected as a draft pick so far as I know. Truth, this is the part of the team that is MOST suspect, even more so than QB.
Furthermore, LSU really hasn't recruited much top talent for DL (or OL for that matter) the last few years. Most of their recruiting stars went to skill players.
Maybe they will show vast improvement and develop 3-4 guys that are future draft picks... But right now?...No. (Note: being objective about LSU is not an appreciated trait here in New Orleans).
I got a chuckle reading the part in the article that gave LSU a check mark for "creative scoring." WTF?

If the SEC places 8-10 teams annually in the top 25 in recruiting...is anyone really elite at it by comparison to their "direct" competition?
Not to nitpick at UF specifically...I am genuinely speaking in regards to the conference as a whole. If LSU finishes 3rd overall but there are 3-4 West teams in the top 10...Would elite really be categorized to describe their efforts?

You don't know much about this LSU team. This is the first time since 2011 that we didn't get decimated by early declares. We're stacked at pretty much every position and your instance that LSU doesn't have DL depth or that we haven't recruited well on the lines is just flat out not true.
And yes Coach O is going to make a difference, just google what Vikings coaches told Danielle Hunter.
The only two legit critiques is depth at LB and what's going on with the QBs. LSU is loaded everywhere else. I don't know where you get your faulty info about our lines but the talent is there, the coaching at that position hasn't been but that has now changed. Our O line is going to be the best it's been in 3-4 years as well.

Article basically says to be a national champion, you need a great d, solid o, good coach, and good depth.
