IIRC wasn't OSU dealing with some tragedy of coaches dying in a plane crash like the day before or day of the game? I remember it being a Thursday night game. Probably should've waited until Saturday and they would've waxed ISU
ETA: Looked it up, it was the women's head basketball coach and assistant the day of the game. You could tell by the press conference that Gundy's head wasn't in it

The first week of august every year I call the lsu AD office and ask if I will get a ring if lsu wins the bcs/playoffs. If the answer is yes then I have to abide by bcs/playoff results. If no, I am free to choose my own champion. In 2011 lsu was 13-1 and bama was 12-1 and I was not at risk to get a ring so I am able to choose lsu as my 2011 national champion.
If you are in position to get a ring if a team wins the playoffs then you have to abide by the decision of the playoffs. For example the K lady fan from lsu gets a ring if lsu baseball wins the baseball playoffs. So the k lady must follow the playoff redults since she was ring-at-risk and Florida in 2017 is her baseball champion.
I hope I have explained the term ring-at-risk okay. For example, the team water boy is ring at risk since he gets a ring if his team wins championship. Me as a wal-Mart street fan, will not get a ring if my team wins championship.
Water boy has to abide by playoff results, walmart street fan does not. It's all about the ring and if you have a chance to get one. That determines if you have to abide by bcs/playoff results
What in the actual frick are you talking about??

So it took them until the 4th quarter to be affected by it?

And voting Stanford 3 and OkSt 4 isn't far fetched at all. Stanford's only loss was to #6 Oregon. And their QB was Andrew Luck.

I've always wondered why LSU is so certain that OSU lite would have been a guaranteed win.
According to LSU fans, Bama was undeserving, yet LSU couldn't even cross the 50 yard line against them in getting shut out and losing by 3 TDs. Okie State was deserving, but would have been an easy win??
Hell you brag but it took Bama two chances to beat us.
Bama had their chances at hine and blew it , rematch should have never happened.

The only travesty from that season is that Alabama didn't play OSU in the championship. They certainly belonged there more than LSU.
Easily the dumbest post in this thread.

Something really weird was going on the night of 0–21. Even if Bama was the better team, that was the best LSU team in history and Bama would have won 6/10 at most. I suspect LSU vs. OSU would have been like Alabama vs. Notre Dame the next year, but of course I could easily be wrong. Oklahoma State was maybe just a tad better than Arkansas, and certainly not better than Oregon. Arkansas lost 41–17 and Oregon lost 40–27. Given the fact that Oklahoma State was winning on its high powered offense just like Arkansas and Oregon, I think it can safely said they weren't going to fare much better than that.
Actually, now that I think about it, LSU faced a lot of powerful offenses that year. They also beat 10–3/#17 West Virginia 47–21. And although Auburn wasn't in championship form, they were still a respectable 8–5 with Malzahn as the OC and lost 45–10. LSU scored 40 or more points in nine of 14 games. I'm betting the score would have been something like 45–24 in LSU's favor.

But their defense was retarded good. I believe the title game to be some weird locker room anomaly. The rest of the games would have looked a lot more like 9–6 than 0–21. Keeping in mind that even though the Alabama defense stifled LSU, Bama only scored one TD that game with a missed PAT. The other 15 points came from five FGs from 23, 34, 35, 41, and 44 yards. The Bama kicker that year was just far too inconsistent. With two teams having defenses that were far better than the other's offense, it basically came down to Saban was a better coach than Miles. Those teams were almost a deadlock from a talent standpoint.

FIFY
Had LSU had any decent modern head coach during the last 6 years, LSU would be leading the series 4/2 during that time. At worst we would be 3/3.

This post is a perfect summation of the LSU fanbase's collective delusion.
This is the downside of the majority of your fanbase not keeping up with football until "this century."

Was Saban a dirt bag midget POS on January 1,2004? Or maybe you are just a bitter beat down turdmunch who has to spend the rest of his life realizing that LSU lost their best ever coach to Bama.

The purpose of the rematch was to deal a death blow to the BCS system and prepare the way to a playoff format
