ESPN

Alabama entered the season with the SEC's least experienced roster. Ohio State did the same in the Big Ten. Ditto for Clemson: bottom of the ACC. But it was actually much starker than that.

Phil Steele, the king of preseason mags, uses a five-part formula to determine experience, and he ranked the Tide roster 116th out of 128 FBS teams. Clemson was ranked 101st. Ohio State was dead last at 128th.

When the youth that is coming is better than 70% of most teams roster there is less drop off if I'm not mistaken all 3 have been in the top 5 of recruiting classes the last three years. Couple that with 3 of the best coaches in the game kinda expected

That is why scheduling is so important . Bama only played one team the first half of the season that had a QB that could cause them to be challenged. It nearly cost them that game. By seasons end, most teams can not use inexperience or youth as an excuse.

We can't help that USC started who they started

Kelly is beast

Doobs was on Pre-season SEC team

Allen is not slouch

So I guess scheduled made years in advance was made for Bama to win.

Ummm....first half of the Season the QBs Bama faced were better than Second half of Season IMO

Saban is a great coach and there is absolutely no denying that fact. Now, Bama has had 6 straight #1 recruiting classes and they get a lot of recruits who are #1 at their position. Don't downplay the advantage Bama enjoys which is talent all over the field.

We know Saban can win and dominate with talented kids. LSU lost 3 games on avg a year when he coached there. He did much worse than that at Michigan St. I know he's a better coach today but would like to see how he does with less talent.

Recruiting is a big part of coaching. Coaching them up after they get there is as well.

When your school hands you talent, that is not anything to do with your coaching.

People keep forgetting that all those yards and touchdowns came after the game was already over.

The problem is the most experienced piece of the puzzle was still walking on the sidelines. The move should've been moved last year but Miles convinced our shitty AD that he would make the necessary changes this year.

Are you saying that Nick Saban and his staff are lazy? That they don't evaluate high school players and work their asses off for UA?

Kelly was the only decent QB they played all season. Allen had his moments, but was too inconsistent. The early schedule helped equalize the effects of youth.
