Do people (other than maybe LSU fans) actually hate Nick Saban? I think the vast majority have a great respect for him, certainly not hate

People hate him the way they hate the SEC. The way they hate the Yankees, the way they hated USC.

They hate because he is that much better than everyone else. The only coach who can hold a candle to him since he's been at Bama is Les Miles. Aggies might say Sumlin, but that is only one game, lets see some more.

1. Joe Paterno

End of list. No one else deserves the same level of hatred that man does.

I can understand the hatred of Saban based on pure jealousy for his success, but how in the hell did Miles and Spurrier make that list? I'm not a fan of LSU or USCe, but those two guys are good coaches and they crack me up.

I only hate those coaches who run that hurry up, no huddle, arena league, sissfied offense. It ain't football!

He and Sandusky should be tied for #1. No question. I may hate Lane, but I don't think he's raped children or enabled a pedophile.

Yeah, Joe Paterno only being at #16 is a complete crock. He should be the indisputable number one since he is truly a deplorable human being.

in most of those cases it was because of success

I'd say it more of size and passion of rival fan-bases and spurned lover syndromes.

All this plus hatred from some of their own fanbases over certain periods of time. i.e. The LSU NegaTigers had daggers for Les during 2008-2010. Vol fans hated Fulmer in the end - hated Kiffin in the end - hated Dooley in the end.

I don't think Nicky is hated as a coach. He's earned respect on the playing field. But as a person he's seriously disliked by almost anyone outside bamaland that has any decent amount of contact with him over a period of time. He's just a prick as a person & perhaps some cann't separate that part of him from the one screaming at his players during games. My dislike of The Old Ball Coach started when he started taking shots at players, in particular Peyton, just to draw more laffs. His comments about his coaching peers were free game, as they were/are well paid professionals. But he went out of his way at times to take shots at players & that was dispicable to me. And, yea, he ran it up every chance he got, long before any other coach was doing it so consistently.

Even though football is dominant, I think Calipari should be 1 or 2.

Obvious noob is obvious,,,,,

Clearly you werne't watching SEC football in the 90's when Spurrier was at UF. He was an insufferable prick while he was beating everyone's arses with his Fun n Gun.
