It's because they have better players/coaches than the other teams.

And if the crowd sucked and fan support was weak, do you think those better players and better coaches would be there? The coaches wouldn't want to be at a place with average fan support and players wouldn't want to play there.

There is a cause and effect factor here. the fan support contributes to the talented players/coaching and the talented players/coaching contributes to the fan support.

Everytime I read one of those anonymous coaches things about A&M they always say their first trip there was way, way less intimidating than they expected.

nobody is saying bama has bad support, but there isn't anything intimidating about BDS outside the coach and the players

Home field advantage is so incredibly overrated.

eh i guess it depends on what you mean by home field advantage

Have I seen too many players come into BR and be literally "scared" into playing worse? Not really, with a few notable exceptions (Bo Wallace, Arizona in 2006). Although you do usually get a few false starts or wasted time outs in big games.

But far more often i have seen our crowd inspire the LSU players to play over their heads for a time, which has carried us to victory or to make a go of it against a stronger opponent. It's difficult to explain but you can definitely feel it in the air when it happens.

I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not. ?? so our crowd/fans - notorious in some circles for their behavior - don't cause an "intimidating" atmosphere? Maybe they aren't as bad as their reputation then.

I will say this tho - BDS is extremely loud when it needs to be.

Also, I've been to all stadiums in conference except Vandy, USCe, and A&M. I've never felt "intimidated" in any of them - including Tiger Stadium at night.

it's neither. BDS is just a generally more tame atmosphere as compared to the other 90k+ stadiums in the conference like TS, JHS, and BHGS

Tuscaloosa is still my 2nd favorite trip in the conference though after Athens

I think we're mixing messages here. Doering was talking about difficult places to play. I could see MSU as a difficult place to play just because it's not easy to even get there sometimes.

Intimidating for players is not the same as intimidating for fans

Fan support isn't an program crushing issue for Florida baseball.

Bryant-Denny has been ear-splitting loud in big games over the last 5-7 years. It did not used to be, but it's a different place now than it was pre-Saban. Florida 2010, LSU 2013, Mississippi State and Auburn 2014, LSU 2015 were madhouses. It was a blast. It was never like that when I was a kid in the late 90s and early 2000s, even for huge games.

I doubt it caused many problems for other teams, but our defense clearly fed off of it in some of those games. LSU 2013/2015 and Mississippi State 2014 for sure.

Why isn't Florida on here since they never leave Gainesville.....except to go to Jax. for WLOCP (even if it's just down the road)?

I can see this. There's no way that 2016 team, with that QB, with that unimaginative play-calling, coached by Ed, should have been within 10 points of Bama. Your crowd helped that atmosphere be possible.

(I know this will read like a troll, but it isn't)

Appreciate the respect for LSU's stadium crowd. The LSU crowd and Aranda's defense were both huge factors, Bama was being shut out of the end zone, until the fabulous freshman Bama Q slid by a LSU D-lineman who appeared to be held and scored. (I know this will read like a troll, but it isn't)
