What was their approach to determining this? Difference in record at home vs record on road? Those aren't the top 4 home win/loss records in the conference, so curious what they used to determine this (is it purely subjective or is it somehow data driven)?

Um... all the teams on this list seem to lose at home with some regularity.

MSU seems out of place.

Last time we played down there was the first time I’d been in that stadium, and I didn’t feel like it was hard to play there for our guys at all. For all the stuff you heard about it being crazy and wild, it really wasn’t one of the more intimidating atmospheres in the league

Did they forget Alabama plays in the SEC?
Alabama is 26-9-2 against LSU in Baton Rouge.
Alabama is 24-20-1 against Tennessee in Knoxville.
Alabama is 3-0 against Texas A&M in College Station.
Alabama is 18-4 against Mississippi State in Starkville.

List is shite.
UT and A&M are hardly rough places to win.
LSU? Yea.
4. Georgia
3. Florida
2. Alabama

Home field doesn't matter as much to the pros until later rounds in the play-offs.
But really, I think this was just Chris Doering doing a segment on SECN. Nothing scientific about it

I don't think Alabama wins game because their home field advantage...this isn't a list of "top 4 teams". You Alabama fans seem really upset about this.

My stepdad is a State alum so I've watched plenty of games in Starkville. It can get loud with the cowbells, but I wouldn't claim it to be Top 4 in the conference.
I mean, this is coming off the heels of a season that saw State lose to South Alabama at home.
I love State by the way. Second favorite SEC school and I always root for them whenever they aren't playing Alabama.

Numbers pulled from football.stassen.com.
Last 10 years (2007-2016):
Winning % Home / Away / Difference
Alabama - 88.9 / 84.2 / 4.7
LSU - 85.9 / 64.9 / 21
Georgia - 82.8 / 66.7 / 16.1
Florida - 77 / 64.9 / 12.1
South Carolina - 75.8 / 43.2 / 32.6
Auburn - 74.6 / 41 / 33.6
Missouri - 73.7 / 61 / 12.7
Arkansas - 67.9 / 34.2 / 33.7
Miss State - 66.7 / 48.9 / 17.8
Tennessee - 66.2 / 26.8 / 39.4
Texas A&M - 66.1 / 52.5 / 13.6
Mississippi - 60.9 / 34.1 / 26.8
Kentucky - 52.3 / 22.5 / 29.8
Vanderbilt - 48.3 / 31.9 / 16.4
If they're using differential, then Vanderbilt is a more "dangerous" home team than Alabama, which I doubt anyone would come close to believing.
A few interesting tidbits:
* Alabama has the best away winning % by a huge margin (next closest is UGA, 17.5 points below). Alabama's away winning % would be the #3 among all winning %s (#1 being Alabama's home winning %, followed by LSU's home winning%)
* Only 6 teams have winning records on the road (Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Missouri, Texas A&M).
* Only one team has a losing home record (Vanderbilt)
* Tennessee has the 2nd worst away record @ 26.8% (only Kentucky is worse)
* Out of teams with a winning away record, only LSU breaks the 20% differential mark. Next best is UGA.
* If Alabama was a perfect 100% at home during this time frame, they would have a 15.8% differential - still "only" good enough for 11th place in the SEC.
* No team in the top 6 in differential (Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn, South Carolina, Kentucky, Ole Miss) has a winning record on the road. The best road team out of this group is South Carolina @ 43.2%.

Well considering Alabama has the best home record of any team in the SEC, I'd say the facts argue against your line of thinking.

No one is upset. We're just curious as to how he came up with this list when the numbers don't add up.

So they're saying bama is equally dominant on the road

It's because they have better players/coaches than the other teams.

Perhaps.
Like I said above, I love State. I always defend Starkville when people talk shite about it.
I didn't watch the segment so I'm just curious what reasoning he gave.
