For goodness sakes can LSU fans have one conversation and not bring Saban or Bama into it. This is a Tuberville topic. The obsession is awful.

Hey everyone, let's join together at laugh at this Bama fan that thinks I am a LSU fan.

I respect the hell out of tubbs be beat some bad arse Florida teams when very few others could even keep it close

At one point it was like they were that team I worried about playing the most after fsu mfers had our card

That 2003 USC/AU game led to one of the funnier Sportscenter clips I can remember. Monreko Crittendon said something that you don't say with a microphone in your face (on USC defense: "I'm not supposed to say this but they have nothing on our defense") and they played that soundbite throughout that entire game highlight. SVP had fun with that

Gus was able to reach the NC game which Tuberville was never able to do.

This is pretty absurd, considering Tubberville got a team through the regular season & SEC Championship game undefeated and ended up #3 because there were 2 other undefeated teams.

While Malzhan got a team to that same point with 1 loss but finished #2 because there weren't multiple undefeated teams.

Auburn's 04 season was much more legit than their 13 season.

Actually neither team was legit if you were to believe the Rant.
And the 2013 team lost 1 regular season game like most teams who play for the NC, leading the country in rushing in the process.

The west sucked when tubs was at AU. Only LSU was any good but he seemed to pull a mark richt and lose his division alot more than he should have. He did inherit a dumpster.

Would you consider hiring him back?

He wouldn't go back. My brother's inlaws live in Auburn and were close friends with Tuberville's family and he hated working there the last few years. He loved the city and fans but hated the administration.

funny how this always comes up with Bama fans while Tubs was there, but never comes up when talking about the 70's when Auburn was on probation

Ears was good at beating us when we had several walk-on's starting due to heavy sanctions.
Please refresh our memories: what were the names of the "several walk-on's" who started for Bama in the Iron Bowls between 2002 and 2007?

Thanks in advance.

I guess screwed wasn't the right word but in many other years he would have gone and he did about as much as he could have at the time.

W/how down the SEC was that year SECE champ Tennessee losing to a 6-6 Notre Dame was pretty much the nail in then coffin for Auburn.

Tuberville learned his early coaching mistakes at Ole Miss. Saban learned his early coaching mistakes at Mich State. Gus is really in his first cycle and its hard to judge. Can Gus learn, adapt and improve - only the future will determine who is the better coach.

You're right, but the SEC is no place to learn on the job

Then why are so many gushing about how great Kirby Smart is going to be?

Can we discount the times Bama beat an Auburn team under sanctions?

The ol' saying back in the 1950's, 60's, and 70's: "Everytime Bama gets caught cheating, Auburn gets put on probation."

It remains to be seen what will happen with several of the SEC's new coaches how they will pan out over the next couple of years. Smart/Muschamp/Malzhan all had little to no head coaching experience when they started in the SEC.

Coach Tubs would still be held in high esteem at Ole Miss if he had handled his move to Auburn with more integrity. But when a coach unofficially accepts a job with another school while still coaching and getting paid by the original school, and then starts recruiting for the other school in early November while coaching the original school to a 17-0 loss to its instate rival, and then showing up on espn the next morning accepting the job at the school he had already been recruiting for for a month...needless to say, his name is mud. or it used to be.
