gonna be a tough game for us.... first team to thirty wins :(

GT-30. Ole Miss-24
quote:

Wommack said he didn't want Ole Miss to be paired with Georgia Tech in the bowl season due to the Yellow Jackets' use of the triple-option attack, something the Rebels didn't encounter during the 12-game regular season.

"I think we've gotten a lot out of it from the standpoint of learning to play depth blocks better," Wommack said. "We're putting our eyes in the right place. All those things carry over. Tackling, too. It's still football for us. Our guys have really taken a hold of what we're asking them to do."

Wommack said he's gone back and watched three years' worth of Georgia Tech offensive film during preparations for Monday's game.

"They've changed a little bit," Wommack said. "There are a few more formations, but the basis of it, the true triple option and the trap-option and that kind of thing, is the same. They do throw it a little bit more than they used to with this quarterback, as far as tendencies are concerned. It's a bowl game. You can expect anything."

Both Johnson and Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said Saturday they don't believe Wommack's familiarity with Johnson's schemes _ or vice-versa _ will impact Monday's game. Freeze said he believes it's an "even wash." Johnson said the Yellow Jackets aren't difficult to figure out.

"If we can't run the ball, we're going to struggle," Johnson said. "If we can't run it, it's going to be a long day for us. Certainly if there are some things in other areas we think we can take advantage of, we'll try to do that, but that's who we are."

Wommack said he's not as sure. If anyone has an edge, he said, it's Johnson, simply because of experience and comfort with the system.

"I think it's still a little disadvantage because they do thousands and thousands of reps and we've had some 450 reps," Wommack said. "Our guys have really taken on the challenge and are looking forward to it. I think we're going to execute really well."

This was one of the tougher picks. Tech usually struggles in bowl games since opponents have time to prepare for the option, OM 28-24

This is basically a pick em. I'm glad to see CPJ incorporate more passing within the offense, which will help. However, given Tech's mediocre pass D, if Ole Miss can air it out consistently, they should win.

Is Bo Wallace quarterback? If so, Georgia Tech wins comfortably.

Golson and Tunsil being out is what worries me... Our offense looked awful in the Egg Bowl without Laremy.
Well, to be honest, it looked shitty before Laremy went out. Sorry.

Should be able to shut Tech down defensively. They always lose bowl games when teams have time to prepare for the triple option -- and it helps that Dave Wommack coached at GT and went against that D every day in practice. 1-7 in their last 8 bowls -- and the only team they beat was a Monte Kiffin-coached D.

That said, OM could struggle to score given the OL situation. Is Jeff Scott back healthy?

He is out because of a sickness in his family

we are going to have to have mathers and walton to step up big. I personally hope Mark Dodson gets some playing time. I would say the underrated player would be Jordan Holder. He is a solid tough senior receiver and I hope to see him go with a nice touchdown

Coaching edge to Paul Johnson, so I'm going with Tech.

And Paul Johnson is a shitty coach.

That's some pretty good fricking smack there coming from a hawg fan. Got to give you 2/10 there. Anybody that has the balls to talk shite about a coach when they have butthead as their head coach must have some decent sized balls...at least 0-8 sized ones.
